Is there any hope for Cleveland?

So will Mayfield and Chubb help the Browns actually win a game this year?

No. I love Nick, but Mayfield is the exact same on-field product as Manziel and will do exactly as well.
Until they find a real quarterback, they'll never win more than 5 games. If they had drafted Darnold or Rosen, I'd say yes.

Totally disagree. They are similar in that they are both grade-A douches. But Mayfield is a much more intelligent QB. I think he will be good. At the very least, he will be better than Manziel ever was in the NFL.

I strongly disagree there, Mayfield just completed the most efficient season for a QB in the history of NCAA football. I don't care for the guy but he's much more polished as a QB than manziel, who was basically "backyard football" personified.
As to the original question, they certainly aren't gonna win any super bowls or anythign but they've quietly amassed a pretty decent collection of talent on offense. Hyde/Johnson/Chubb is a decent backfield. Tyrod Taylor isn't an all star but he's not the worst in the league and should prevent mayfield from having to start immediately. Gordon and Landry is a heck of a combo at WR to boot. If they can get some pieces on defense to step up they could win a handful of games, which considering their recent history would be fantastic.

Yeah. A Mayfield/Manziel comparison is lazy and idiotic. If anyone actually watched both of them, they would see that their games are nothing alike.
Mayfield might be a little bit of a douche on the field, but a lot of the good ones are.

Manziel also did a lot more with his legs in college, which isn't as easy to get away with in the NFL. He also had a couple tall receivers who would bail him out of bad throws, which is also not as easy to get away with in the NFL.
Mayfield didn't have that same luxury or that same type of decision-making in college if I remember correctly.

Can we get some threads about Philadelphia, Detroit and Cleveland up please?? Right now there’s only a New York chicken thread, a NYC “uga” bar (that requires reservations ha,ha,ha!) thread, a Jersey is awesome thread , and a thread about what some guy in Chicago said......on the GEORGIA sports board.
You are welcome Jefferson.......
Whose is doing a thread on Detroit since the Philly Connection covered Philly.......

The Browns have substantially upgraded their talent level this offseason.
ETA: My NFL comp for Mayfield is Tyrod Taylor, ironically.

OP was oblivious to the dumb heading. Should have said the Browns, not Cleveland. I came here worried that something happened to Ben.

I think the Cavs have a good shot.

I've seen this thread countless times since it was posted, but I still always shite a brick when I see it, because I always think Ben Cleveland did something stupid/got hurt.

Dude got his own spin-off show. He's doing ok.

I don't think Baker is going to be that good. He was a product of a gimmick offense and I just don't see him translating to the NFL. Look what UGA did to him in the 2nd half after making adjustments. When his players weren't wide open, he started to struggle.
He may end up in the league as a fringe starter/backup qb but I don't think he ever becomes an avg NFL qb.
