Great article from this morning on ESPN...McGarity's done a great job in rounding up all the donors and listening to the needs expressed.

Kirby's also done a tremendous job in knowing exactly what he wants to succeed and having it translated into results.

ALL new facilities and expansions have been completely PAID FOR through donations---NOT A PENNY OF DEBT ADDED!!

I wish our government was able to function this way.

Our government would try to impeach Kirby and say any new renovation was racist.

Screw Mcgarity.

He sat on his arse and on a big pile of "reserve funds" for 6 years while multiple rivals surpassed us in facilities and support staff.I give Kirby and Moorhead FAR more credit.

Why in the world were we the last SEC team to get a IPF?

We still have one of the WORST gameday experiences in the SEC...our concessions and restroom facilities are a joke.

Granted, he did sit on his butt awhile; he was sort of feeling his way through the job for a time.

But, something jarred him. Actually, someone jarred him. That someone was Kirby Smart.

Me and McGarity went to school together at UGA. I know him. During his first few years at the helm, Mark Richt, whom I love and support very much, went to McGarity several times petitioning several projects that he desperately wanted and needed. No dice. Not only did Richt get thumbs down from McGarity, he got thumbs down from the powers above him, too. This frustrated Richt and the coaching staff.

Fast forward...Kirby comes on board with full knowledge of how things were being operated at the time. UGA's always been known for being tight-fisted with money. Kirby DEMANDED that he be given the resources and money to do what he wanted to accomplish at UGA---or else.

Well, UGA's let loose of the purse strings since Kirby's arrival and, voila!, what'cha know....UGA's risen to the top in recruiting, getting facilities built and others improved and expanded, and it's all paying off. It really makes me wonder.....just how more successful Mark Richt would've been at UGA had....the purse strings THEN had been turned loose and we wouldn't have had to play so much catch up today??? Hmmm???

Anyhow, that's all in the past now and we're doing fine in the present and, hopefully, we'll do even BETTER in the years to come, Lord willing.

nothing that you posted really supports mcgarity although it seems like you're kind of trying to. You've essentially said "he was asked repeatedly for years for support and denied it, then when a stronger personality with a backbone that would stand up to him and not take his shite told him what to do he fell in line". That's not really a great quality to have in an AD, IMO.

WG...I'm not going to give specific details here; however, trust me...McGarity knows what he's doing. Remember, McGarity has certain ones that he has to report to, also. Every AD at every school does.

McGarity learned from one of the best ADs in the nation while serving under Jeremy Foley at UF. He's taken the same philosophy practiced by Foley and has been applying it while here at UGA. It's taken some time, primarily because we were so far behind many others at the time McGarity came on board. Also, UGA's philosophy toward spending had to change. You can check that off NOW.

The donations have skyrocketed under McGarity and our success on the football field has improved, too. To be able to pay for all these things completely with donations without having to add debt is phenomenal.

McGarity's a nice guy, he really is. Most of all, he LOVES the University of Georgia and wants nothing but the VERY best for UGA.

No he hasn't. EVeryone knew before your post that kirby is the only reason he's actually gotten off his arse and spent money on football, if richt was still here we'd still look like 2015. He still hasn't done shite to improve foley. Every hire he made his first like 5 years on the job was an utter and objective failure, most of which had former ties to UGA which was seemingly the only qualification. It wasn't until he had NO CHOICE but to fire fox FINALLY, and then hired kirby, that his overall hiring resume seemed to improve. There are hundreds of little things about Sanford and gameday that every other major SEC school does taht we still do not, he's stuck in the 90s and has zero vision and proactiveness about him. Simply raising a ton of money, in a time where demand for our program is at an all time high and people are willing to shell out money hand over fist, doesn't really matter much to me.

and continued to remain behind the times well into his tenure.

they've skyrocketed because we're a title caliber team. They skyrocketed in 07/08 as well but that has little to do with damon evans.

Yeah, it changed because kirby told us that we were in last place in the arms race and wouldn't win shite unless we did something. AGain, tha'ts not a check mark for mcgarity.

Seems to me he wants to please his bosses that he answers to and not do anything that requires any hint of foresight or creativity. He also looks foolish with that hair dye.

When an AD actually creates a Master Plan and adheres to it, let me know. Until then, they’re a glorified yes man who answers to Kirby first, donors second, and the other coaches thereafter

That you would compare Kirby to that buffoon in the White House, who is in fact a racist, conman, and fraud, is absolutely silly.

Please.Mcgarity couldn't even get the small hires correct and I HIGHLY doubt he was hamstrung by anyone when fired our women's golf coach.?

And instead of trying to catch up to what Saban was doing he decided to get holier than thou and declare that UGA "wouldn't oversign players" Gee,that worked out well didn't it?

I also doubt he would've had to get anyone's permission to at least add support staff when just about all of our rivals were doing it.

Why even have them if that's all they are ?.

Or maybe he was comparing him to the prior buffoon, who was in fact a racist, conman, and fraud. Or maybe the one before that.

Hard to tell with politicians.

Keep up regurgitating what your masters at CNN tell you. Please explain how someone who hangs with Floyd Merriwether and hung out with Tupac back in the day is racist.

You are a frickING cuck.

Serious question. What are the things UGA could do to upgrade the Gameday experience. I haven't been to an away game in years other than Florida. Had season tickets for 39 years now.
