Shameless endorsement of a friend's new place in Athens. 2 huge rooms, 3 giant big screens in the bar room, and the show room will have a 14 foot HD projection screen flanked by 2 more giant big screens showing the game with couches, tables, and chairs. Kind of off the beaten path too so it likely won't be packed to the gills, on the outskirts of downtown at Dougherty and Hull.
House cocktails are fantastic, nice beer selection, best TV's in town too. See you there!

They've done a ton of work to that place and a ton more is in the works. The patio is excellent since there is nothing downtown like it with that much outdoor spaces.

Molly O'Sheas? I'm not sure who owned it, but they had the best damn happy hour I've ever been to. Buy any food item get a free pitcher or something like that. Order 6 separate orders of wings? 6 free pitchers. No wonder it went under

I'm rolling into town on a party bus with 11 peeps, we were going to hit the GA theater but I am worried it will be packed. This may be right up our alley, they do not sell food I assume?

No food, but there is a BBQ place right next door that is pretty good. And you are right, the Theatre will be out of room probably an hour before the game if not earlier due to the weather.

Definitely have Athena, and they always have a rotating selection of other craft beers so I'm not sure what they have at the moment

They usually have good drink specials and cheap beer... If you are in town Friday they have a Friday afternoon beer club where they feature a different brewery every week and sell those brews for only $2 a pop
