They missed a false start by 2 Alabama players on the blocked punt play.

The phantom offsides on that punt block was HUGE, it changed the whole momentum of the game.

I'm sure they would have flagged it if they didn't get us for the phantom offsides.

Why negate a good UGA play with a flag on Bama when you can throw a flag on UGA instead?

Blocked punt really should have just been a 10 yard shift because they should have called the false start and still been punting. Face mask was HUGE. Overall, they just made the right adjustments and we got conservative (and stupid). Refs may have made a negative impact on the game for us, but they definitely didn’t lose the game for us either.

I think the issue is that there was *not* an offsides... meaning an incorrect call was made... not what the correct call should have been. If we go down that route, then there are a number of False Starts against Bama that should have but weren't called (including the one on the TD). I don't expect officials to get everything right, but whether a player was or wasn't offsides at the snap seems like something that should be reviewable in cases where it would dramatically alter the outcome of a game... if we can review whether a QB passed the line of scrimmage on a forward pass and dissect that to the degree that any body part still behind the line counts, I see no reason why that play shouldn't receive the same scrutiny.

I agree that the refs didn't outright lose the game... we did that all on our own... With that said, Bama wasn't really in a position to take advantage of it without the poor officiating. Just a shitty way to see an otherwise great game called. Getting every call right should never be the barometer, but calling a game consistently should be. Consistent and balanced, they were not.

Hats off to Saban for the move to sit Hurts... even bigger hat tip to Tua... Haven't listened to any interviews, but guessing that was not a scenario we spent a lot of time planning around.

A game that close. Those missed callers were huge and one sided. It’s just really sad.

Not only that, how do they miss a blatant unsportsmanlike conduct when the guy shoved Fromm in the back of the head AFTER he got up and 10 ft in front of the ref who was coming toward them and looking right at them?!?! Do they not call those in the friggin B1G? There were several like that to the point if it got worse, there were going to be injuries as both sides feel for the edge of the envelop of what will be called.

My one hope was that the game would not be marred by bad officiating, but it definitely was. The officials gave Bama a chance. To their credit, Bama came through.

UGA had a fantastic season. I'm proud of all the players and coaches.

I hope that Kirby learns to stay aggressive with a lead. The end-game conservatism wasn't a Chaney call.

No person subject to the rules shall strike an opponent with the knee; strike an opponent’s helmet (including the face mask), neck, face or any other part of the body with an extended forearm, elbow, locked hands, palm, fist or the heel, back or side of the open hand; or gouge an opponent. (A.R. 9-1-2:I)

Not sure if you saw this on the TV, but the same Bama special teams player(think it was 94) who punched another Bama player on the sideline later came in and made an illegal tackle on Mecole.

How a classy guy like Saban let that guy play another football play that game after his sideline issue amazes me....

#48...that was the guy.

I agree there were bad calls and non-calls.

That being said...Kirby has a good start on changing the culture in the program and at the University...but, until it filters out to the entire Dawg Nation, we will not achieve greatness.

Winners find a way to get it done even when the deck is stacked.

Losers point to the stacked deck and say, “that’s why we lost.”

I promise, Kirby isn’t going to let the players use that excuse. Nor will anyone associated with the program or the University be allowed to do it.

It’s our turn, as the fans, to man up...tip our cap, and move forward without making excuses.

The future is bright.

Go Dawgs!

I just don't understand why we a play like that isn't reviewable when it was a colossal frickup, whereas we had to sit through reviews of several plays that were correctly called plain as day.

Don’t lecture me with that Wheeties Box mantra. Smart complained about the refs after the Auburn game. It happened and it sucks. We did play through it in the SEC Championship Game at least.

I wasn’t lecturing you. I know you are a former player, and are closer to the program than I will ever be. I know that the loss stings for you in a way it never can to someone who is only a fan.

My point was simply that we have to stop making excuses for losses.

Yes. Kirby complained about the officiating in the first game with auburn...he handled it through appropriate channels. I don’t remember him saying anything publicly that suggested that we lost because of the bad officiating.

Even when it’s true, as it was Monday night, it makes us look petty and desperate to point to it publicly and say that’s why we lost.
