Our depth isn’t down. That is a ridiculous statement.

I wish I could be more encouraging but I think Kirby has all but summed it up in a nutshell: we don't have the quality depth that we once did.

We will play, once again, to contain Milroe behind the LOS and not let him advance the ball by rushing. We will rush 4 and Milroe will have plenty of time to throw short to intermediate passes. I don’t see Smart changing his Bama scheme from what he selected to do in the 21 and 23 SECCGs. Most perplexing strategy shift I have ever seen took place in those 2 games and until he shows an aggressive scheme from the first snap, I won’t believe that he has overcome that hurdle. I predict another 20-17 type loss this Saturday.

It is amazing that one of the greatest coaching minds (maybe the greatest) in all of college football can't see problems so obvious that even message board posters recognize them and understand the solution. He never uses his quarterback right, can't figure out how his defense should operate, plays the wrong guys in the wrong positions, makes bad game calls, hires bad coaches, etc.
This truly is perplexing, as you say Dirk, and I hope someone close to Kirby reads your post and brings it to Kirby's attention.

Those arguments are mutually exclusive
Those game plans mentioned those years were awful and we got exposed

I think the coaches did read my review after that joke SECCG scheme and in preparation for the 2021 CFB re-match against Bama. They completely changed and went back to the type of scheme that had made them the #1 dominant defense that season. I do hope that he gets the message this week. Nevermind, I am sure that he reads this board hoping to get my advise. We will be fine. Watch us swarm all over Milroe. You are welcome Kirby.

I see this term "game manager" a lot and I'm not sure what it means because nobody ever defines it.
When I hear game manager, I think of a quarterback that plays almost too conservative to the point it can be a detriment to the team. Like a quarterback that will stick with a play even if the opportunity to scramble is open right in front of him. Or a quarterback will opt for an outlet pass to a running back over a deep pass or a play over the middle, when the forward pass would result in a first down or a big play, the outlet pass is the "safer" pass... even if it requires the outlet receiver to have to break a bunch of tackles just to get near the first down. Or if the pocket starts to break down, he'll just take the sack instead of try to roll out and extend the play. Or if an RPO is called, he's always going to hand the ball off rather than keep the ball and run or pass.
Game managers usually get a ton of completions, but a lot less yards per attempt, and struggle to break a game open.

Agree 100%. Was watching a breakdown of Beck on the Coach Hayes youtube...seems as if Beck is well below last year. Who knows.
Edit: He's missing way too many that he made easily last year. Could he have the woman problems that plagued that kicker we had one year? Could it be done on purpose?

Don't recall the name - he was doing very well until girlfriend issues and then he bottomed out. Beck has a smokeshow for a gf and if she left...

THIS....the Oline has been crucified by fans and media. I got a feeling they rise to the occasion with a mountain size chip on their shoulder.

To be fair I think we all know that ball security and taking the check down has been drilled into Becks head his whole career. That’s our system. The difference between him and Stet is that Stet didn’t GAF and was going to take shots downfield or just take off running if he saw grass ahead of him.
That led to some big plays but also some WTF moments every game.

While I agree the vast majority fo the time that people thinking they know better than coaches are complete morons...it's objectively obvious to see that our strategy in the 21 SECCG (whihc was different than all 14 other gmaes played that yera) was ridiciculous. Additional proof can be seen by playing them a month later (using our normal scheme we'd done all year) and limited them to a single touchdown.
Last year's SECCG was also a deviation from our norm by implementing a ridiculous double-spy. If Kirby would simply just play our regular defense, which is routeintly a top 5 unit in the country, we'll likely be ok.

This.
With the weather being what it is supposed to be, this one might turn into a running game. High winds/rain won't make for long passes, even mid might be off the table.

That system is pushing Eastward. I don't see a scenario right now that will impact the actual game itself. Travel on Friday might be interesting though with the storm passing up through Athens...but I am sure we will get out of there early if that is the case

On defense, we must contain Milroe and confuse him with a variety of defensive sets.
To do this we have to have pressure up the middle, and our edge rushers have to keep Milroe from getting outside. We can defeat a one-dimension QB.

I just hope the give Gurley Girl a headset so she can call plays for us.
