What firm if you don't mind me asking?

I rather not say the firm in a public forum, but It's one of the big4 accounting firms. If this board had PM support, I would just PM you .

I work in Corp America in the top 100. It is dawg eat dawg, nothing personal. It is the same as any where else. Take the job and work your self into HR. There you can move into management. Do not be afraid to move companies to move up.

NCDawg is also smart to work for a city. There is the possiblity to have a pension with a city or union, if they survive. Do not discount that approach.

Luckily, I'm in a Fortune 100 that still honors a pension and matching 401(k).

The best advice I can give a noob in the workforce is to decide who and what you want to be (and no... you never start out there). Tell your supervisor or whomever takes you under their wing as your friend. Ask them what you have to do to be fastracked (they can usually point to examples in the firm).

From there, you have a point of reference. You know how hard you have to bust your arse and what type of credentials you need to get upwardly mobile, fast. If you are upwardly mobile, fast... then opportunities and challenges will fall in your lap. If you don't stick out amongst the masses, you might have a great job. But that's all you're going to have.

You can thank Obama for our awesome economy and job market

You can keep making excuses good sir. The hard cold facts are that some of us will thrive in any economy and some of us will cry and whine. I choose to play the hand I am dealt and leave the complaining to the complainers.

Graduating in December and as if my motivation wasn't almost already gone, well it's definitely gone now. Now it's just focusing on the Dawgs and working off the bs that comes with a DUI

Congratulations Dude. Remember that you are paid for the value that you bring to the marketplace and to work harder on yourself than on your job. Learn all you can because the skills, not paychecks, that you acquire will be your greatest assets.

Stay out of law. Too many lawyers right now.
Personally, I love it. Hung my own shingle and defend the falsely accused.
Times are tough for lawyers. Of late, I have seen civil lawyers trying to handle some crim work to supplement their practice. It's pretty hard to screw up an arraignment, but I've seen it done. Sorry for the rant, but I don't know why they call themselves "trial lawyers".

Kaplan is pretty good for everything; as long as you do what they tell you to do, you do fine.
