With respect to our offensive issues at the goal line last season, I just happened to watch OU-Texas Tech this afternoon at lunch and caught a Tech play at the goal line on 4th down that exhibits the creativity of the Big 12 offense and is easily something we could have done and maybe should do looking forward if we insist on stuffing it up the gut into a stacked DL:

Offense lines up like a typical QB sneak only they put an OL as a single back behind the QB. When the ball is snapped, the QB runs a sneak while the OL behind him takes off and basically tackles him through the line and into the end zone.

Big Ben tackling Fromm into the end zone could be a thing, could it not?

Could break Fromms' back too.

Just sub out Fromm for Dwan/Stetson/a walk-on who can handle the ball. Fromm's a tough guy, but I'd prefer not to have Big Ben clapping his cheeks from behind while our backup situation is a little shaky.

Just hand the ball off to Herrien behind the best Oline in football and play grown man football.

Yeeeeeeeeeeah we tried that 7 times in a row against Florida (albeit behind a hurt OL but still the destination earns the points not the journey).

Gee,how bout running a QB bootleg to the side the UF DE was continually crashing?

Yes,I know that's a bit much for the Chaney playbook but it just MIGHT have worked.

I think the obvious solution is stretch the defense and not plow ahead 7 straight times when it clearly won’t work but just spitballing this as an option I don’t think our coaches even considered

Pretty sure half of Zuniga’s hype coming into this season can be credited to that sequence of plays from that game

Dude can find a hole in a ball bearing.

On that series we had;
LT Kendall Baker
RG True Freshman Cade Mays
RT RS Freshman Isaiah Wilson

Even the backups in, this 2019 Oline is a different animal. Plus Trey Hill at 6'4 330 lbs will absorb 2 or 3 Dlinemen alone.

which should still be more than fine enough to get 1 yard in 7 chances.

I was watching highlights of the kentucky game the other day (which was 1 week after jax I believe) and we did the same damn thing.

1st & Goal at UK 4

(13:26 - 4th) D'Andre Swift run for 3 yds to the Kent 1
2nd & Goal at UK 1

(13:04 - 4th) D'Andre Swift run for no gain to the Kent 1
3rd & Goal at UK 1

(12:38 - 4th) Jake Fromm run for no gain to the Kent 1

Honestly, Trey Hill struggled at RG. A lot of that is due to him playing against great players. I think he has achieved respect for seeing the field as a freshman on a talented line. Too much optimism is there based upon that fact alone. He got beaten badly at times.

The chemestry wasn't there either. A true freshman at center and Kendall Baker at RG. Baker was somewhat of a project plug and play everywhere except center.

man, we really could have ronniestomped kentucky much worse if not for some (expected) freshman mistkaes from hill. We were driving right before halftime I believe about to score and he missnapped which we lost. And I THINK there was another time, maybe earlier in the game, where we had another faulty exchange that they recovered.

Yeah, way too much optimism for lineman who was forced to play 2 positions as a true freshman.

On the other hand, better than a redshirt freshman who has never played SEC competition

anyone know when they cahnged the rules? I remember for hte longest time you couldn't have a teammate aid your forward progress, seems like they did away with it a couple years ago?
