So why are you pissed again?
A UGA player is not only on the Falcons team, but starting.
If you want to compare, the Aints have 0 LSU players on the team.
Dallas Cowboys don't have a single player from the University of Texas.
The Titans only have only player from Tennessee, and that just happened from this draft.
It isn't just what we need, but also do they fit in the scheme.
The only UGA position the UGA had to offer that we needed was Washington. While I liked him, think he is the most athletic defensive player in the draft IMO, he wasn't right for the falcons D.

Never said I was pissed, just can't root for the falcons. The Saints have had plenty of LSU and ole miss players on the roster in the past 20 years or so. Dallas has had plenty of UT and OU players as well. Just seems very odd to me that with all of the success that UGA players have had in the NFL the falcons can't find one to use.

quote:Nope, 3rd round pick. Look, there are a lot of schools that put out studs year in and year out, who cares where we get them from. FWIW Cincy drafts or signs 1-3 UGA guys a year it seems like and they haven't exactly been winning championships year in and year out.
Akeem was a FA sign.

Bulldogs drafted by Falcons since 1980
Scott Woerner-1980
Troy Sadowski-1989
Mitch Davis-1994
DJ Shockley-2006
Martez Milner-2007
Thomas Brown-2008
Akeem Dent-2011
This doesn't count the UDFA we gave a shot. 7 in 33 years, so about 1 in every 4 or 5 drafts, not that bad.

watching them trade up to take Julio and not AJ
AJ was already off the board when that happened. And it isn't like we can be real upset with how Julio has played so far. He has many Pro Bowls ahead of him.

Please tell me what UGA player was worth going balls to the wall to get??? We would have had to give up future draft picks for Tree and JJ and we aren't in "desperate need" of those positions. Maybe Sanders Commings but he's average at best and id much rather have truant. Believe me I would have loved to see us grab Rambo or Shawn Williams but I don't want to see them rot on the bench behind two pro bowl safeties. Now we could've grabbed Corn late but it is what it is.

Tree was there if we wanted him.

Tree doesn't play corner.

Well aware. Not saying we should have drafted him, just pointing out that we wouldn't have had to trade up to get him as RLR was suggesting.

My fault. Forgot he fell. Either way we do not need him.

Seems like more teams are drafting for immediate need instead of looking for the best players. Teams that are always in the Super Bowl discussion often take best player available. Falcons need a Super Bowl in the next 2-3 years for the Trufant pick to work because there were better players on the board.

If the best player on the board was a QB should we have taken him? Why would we blatantly ignore needs we have on the team and draft somebody at a position where they will never play, when instead we good get a dang good player for a huge hole that needs to be filled.

I wish we would have gotten Tyler Bray instead of the QB from Duke. He would be a solid back up for Matty Ice.
