Cold and rainy winter weather with an excellent pedal steel. If you ask me the Bohemian nature of downtown Athens, makes it unique. I would prefer to live in Oconee county, but you can't deny the allure. I hope they keep it.

The bohemian nature is already gone except for the hot corner area at Hull and Washington.

Great video. Reminds me of some of my later days in Athens and some of the rainy, winter days up there back in the mid 90's. I had a bunch of musician friends; some guys who were friends with David Barbe who was in the video and played with Sugar. I remember a bunch of the townies and musicians moved to Austin around that time. They felt like Athens was losing it's charm. I thought it kept it's great for a while. I think after the last recession ended it really started to feel more commercialized.

The "Patterson Hood" house still stands in what used to be the abandoned warehouse district on the River, now condos and such, except for that one shitty little blighted house. The story is he wouldn't sell, got offered shite tons of money, he said no, most of the owners on the street were also allied, but one by one, as the offers got higher and higher, they all sold out except him, so he gave in and said he'd sell too, but developers had already worked around him and left him sitting on his porch holding his dick, in a blighted house, surrounded by development, with a beautiful view of brick walls on 3 sides.

Yea, DT Athens is mostly gone now and replaced by garbage like Urban Outfitters and etc.
