Do people think we'd be a lock for the playoffs if we were undefeated?

Someone brought this up yesterday and I thought it was a pretty good topic. 90% of people just assume that LSU is a stone cold lock to make the playoffs even if they lose to us. Let's pretend everythign that happened this season played out exactly like it has, only we beat SC in an ugly, sloppy 2OT game instead of losing. Your rankings going into this weekend would be OSU, LSU, UGA, Clemson, all undefeated.

Would we be given the same "they're definitely in" treatment with a loss Saturday?

In a tight game, yes.

In a blowout, no.

You could make that argument against LSU as well. Assuming the unthinkable happens and we blowout LSU. It won't happen, but if it did there's a real argument LSU isn't getting in either with Georgia, Clemson, and OSU being locks in that situation.

Not totally sure either is a lock in a loss, especially if it is by 10 or more.

The only lock in this situation would be Bama or ND.

My guess is no. LSU gets it because nobody has come close to them, really (Auburn, but...) and their fofense is high powered. The masses love offense and they will always lean toward a high powered offensive team.

So are you asking if half of the playoff bracket would basically auto qualify, rendering the conference championship game they were about to play each other in useless? No.

Meh. I think Utah would probably still get the nod, but we would definitely get in over OU.

I think it's silly to think that as well. Which is why I don't think LSU is automatically in if we win. If they wouldn't automatically be in had we beat SC, why should they automatically be in because we lost to SC?

Considering we have wins over 3 of the top 15 teams in the playoff rankings, I'd say yes.
