Dinner out in Athens tonight

Any recommendations for a nice restaurant to eat at tonight? Will probably be 7:30ish dinner and then would like to hit up 2-3 places before it gets crazy downtown.

Agreed... being a Friday without reservations may want a plan B if wait is too long. Other awesome downtown options are:
5 - Great ribeye and the Uptown Shrimp is best appetizer ever
Last Resort Grill - Great menu
South Kitchen - get the shrimp and grits!
If you stick with Porterhouse and like adult beverages, do yourself a favor and get a Double Barreled Cannon cocktail. Best signature cocktail in town. Spin off of an Old Fashioned.

The National's upscale. Consistently good. Porterhouse and Hilltop are two of my favorites, although service is hit and miss. Typical for college town.

Odd... only thing I can think of is they marinate peaches in Bourbon and either molasses or brown sugar and probably bitters. Maybe they had a run on their Dbl Brl Cannons and were out of peaches.

Don’t know how these people drive this shite everyday. Traffic is miserable getting over to Athens. Picking the rest of the crew up from Stegmann at 7:30 and it will have taken 2 hours to get here.

Friday traffic ATL to Athens is notoriously bad. It isnt that bad Mon-Thurs.

Grindhouse is pretty solid but Clocked is good too (though Clocked will make and serve your food when they damn well feel like it, and it’s downtown so probably going to be a bit more busy on a Friday night).
