Looks like Kirby will be the official D coordinator and lean on his defensive position coaches to assist his game plans.

Could be wrong but no real reason why it has gone cold during this dead period and with spring workouts already started.

Idk, that would be extremely rare in today's game. Obviously he will be heavily involved just like he's always been but I would have to think that lanning or schumann is going ot be the "official" DC. No clue why it hasn't been announced though.

It's what Belichick does in the NFL. Kirby might be taking a page from him.

At this point it would seem that maybe he's trying to wait out all available openings before deciding whether he needs to name co-DCs or if he can pick one possibly? I really don't know. I assume he's had conversations with the coaches on staff though at this point.

I thought one holdup was the coaching carousel after the superbowl.

But we have all on field defensive positions filled.
A DC coming in wouldn't get to pick the scheme or the coaches helping.

I wouldn't be shocked if Kirby is the DC and the carrot is out there for the staff coaches to out-hustle one another to earn the title/paycheck.
