Folks are saying he interviewed, but I think it's Chad Morris' to lose.

Who would Kirby tap to be DC?

Sherrer could get a look. Schumann still might be a little young, but he's our DC of the future imo.

Tosh Lupoi could be in the mix.

Hmm, I don't know about Sherrer. Would Kirby go for a bigger name or someone he can mold into what he wants?

It would be someone Kirby is familiar with and who has familiarity with the Saban/Smart/Pruitt scheme.

Would Lupoi be a realistic option?

If he got the DC job, definitely. It would be a promotion for him.

The one bigger name I could think of is Travaris Robinson at USCe, but I doubt he'd leave Muschamp to work for another defensive-minded HC.

Many have speculated that he may be on the way out to take a DC gig... were we to lose Mel after this season, might be an opportunity to retain him... probably on the lower pay side as well... significant raise/bump but without having to overpay for the DC and keep salary available to bump up other deserving staff. Could also see him looking to spread his wings a bit... will be interesting.

Why on earth would he be interested in a lateral move like this?

DC > HC... Uh... $$$ most likely. UT reportedly has offered ~7M for at least one of their coaching targets who declined. Mel might not command that much, but it would be more than he makes at UGA for certain... probably bare minimum of 4x current salary (currently makes 900k) - would put him at 3.6M/year. I'd guess higher based on where UT is at in this search (particularly if Sexton is his agent ).

Oh I misread. It's for the HC position. I thought I saw DC.

It's not going to matter, because they're not going to hire Tucker in the end. I'd be shocked if that were the case.

You would think, but why interview if you have no interest in taking it.

Ever interviewed for a multi-million dollar job?

Not that I'm aware of. He's from the Midwest. Played at Wisconsin. Coached all over the place in the NCAA and NFL, but no stops in Tennessee.
