Dawgs dropping some money on expanding Butts-Mehre

Just announced, $80 million, two phase expansion of the football facility where the upper level practice field is currently.
Will include doubling the weight room in size, new nutrition center, state of the art sports medicine facility, renovated locker room, and new team meeting room and position rooms
By comparison, spent $14mill on the IPF and $63mill on the west end zone. This is some big money
Construction will start on phase one in January, will stop before next season, pick up on phase two in January 2022

Rendering havent been released but I imagine this will also include a new grandstand for spec towns. Can’t imagine they’d move the track seeing as Sinclair loves to use it for S&C

It will be interesting to see at what point a significant number of schools take a look at the ever-increasing costs of all of this stuff and just say "Nope. frick it, we're not spending any more."

I think that is what they should have done. Move Spec Towns track to Milledge and build a facility there. You can't complain about what they're doing though. Unlike that idiotic 20 yard practice building, it doesn't look like they're half-assing it. UGA's administration often has that problem. They did it with the baseball stadium.
I would hope they expand the player's lounge and improve it, because it needs it.
