Saw this on 247 and thought you might find it interesting. Like I said from the get go, Dan Mullen is good for an 8-4 maybe 9-3 season. The Lizards were really desperate hiring this guy and I find it amusing as hell that the fans really think he is going to take them to the playoffs this coming season.

2010 year he went 9-4 with wins against
2-10 Memphis
8-5 la tech
3-9 uab
5-7 Kentucky
5-6 Tennessee Martin
2-10 ole Miss
6-7 uga
7-6 Michigan

2012 year
7-5 Jacksonville state
3-8 auburn
5-7 troy
2-10 south bama
5-7 Tennessee
8-4 middle Tennessee
4-8 Arkansas

2013
9-3 alcon state
6-6 troy
10-4 blowing green
2-10 Kentucky
3-9 Arkansas
8-5 ole Miss
10-4 rice

2014 his best year at miss state that included number one ranking for a few weeks

3-9 southern miss
6-6 Uab
6-7 south bama
8-5 lsu
8-5 aggies
8-5 auburn
5-7 Kentucky
7-6 Arkansas
6-6 Tennessee Martin

2015 another 9 win season but wins against

9-5 Southern miss
4-7 northwestern state
7-6 auburn
4-8 troy
9-4 la tech
5-7 Kentucky
5-7 Mizzou
8-5 Arkansas
7-6 NC State

quote:

2016 and 2017 is similar to everything else expect lsu win in 17 was pretty good one beating a 9-4 team.

His career so far reminds me of James Franklin's as a head coach, though JF's teams didn't have an embarrassingly bad OOC slate at Vandy every year. As much as I didn't like him, he won enough at Vandy to take them seriously as an opponent, which is also what Mullen was able to do at MSU.

Since taking over at Penn State, JF has been able to stay competitive with Ohio State and Michigan but loses more often than he wins, sometimes in convincing fashion. He's also dropped a game or two each year that he probably shouldn't (like Michigan State or Northwestern). He's recruited fairly well, but this offseason saw a ridiculous number of his players enter the transfer portal.

I can see Mullen at UF being fairly similar in results a few years from now.

Franklin's wins over Ohio State and Wisconsin in 2016 are more than anything Mullen has ever expected. Franklin has won the Big Ten at Penn State.

Winning the Big Ten =/= winning the SEC, but I get your point.

Worth noting that the year JF and Penn State won the Big Ten, a team from its own division went to the CFP instead.

Concur wholeheartedly. 38-42 in SEC play, and his record vs. the top-25 is effin awful. Vastly overrated.
