Anyone got any inside info on Campbell? I heard he's in a boot. I'm hoping it's precautionary.

More injury updates:

WR Tyler Simmons (shoulder), WR Demetris Robertson (lower extremity injury) and CB Tyson Campbell (lower leg) will all probably "be fine," per Kirby Smart, but he'll know more today based on whether they practice, how much, etc.

Got this text earlier today.

I swear I saw Simmons break his arm. Obviously he did not. He must have flexible bones!

Per Dawgnation last night-

quote:

DawgNation saw Campbell walking around the football facility Monday morning wearing a black walking boot. Smart said the hope was that the sophomore cornerback would be okay for the game against Notre Dame.

quote:

All three wide receivers that were had been injured — Kearis Jackson, Demetris Robertson and Tyler Simmons — were all spotted at practice. Jackson had a large club on his hand, which he did last week as well after suffering a broken hand in the Vanderbilt win. Robertson was not out with the group at the start of practice but did arrive before the end of the media viewing portion. Smart said he had a lower extremity injury on Monday morning. Robertson had black kinetic tape going up and down his left leg. Simmons had a shoulder brace on while he was going through drills.

Slow motion replay in the stadium from the field-side angle showed Simmons coming down on the point of his elbow, which probably jarred his shoulder. Shoulder stuff sucks.

Thats what I saw. Falling on your elbow like that had to hurt like a bitch! And I'm sure the shoulder injury hurt just as bad.

Really hope Campbell returns to practice soon. He's really improved since last season and might be our best cornerback?

Also, really glad that Isaiah Wilson has returned to practice. I thought he'd be out for ND for sure.

I'm 100% with you on the improvement. Campbell was a liability last season as a true freshman. This season appears to be vastly different. If he can come close to a lockdown on his side, that would be huge.

However, he is still far away from Eric Stokes in terms of coverage skills(better as a pure tackler, yes. but the gap in coverage is still pretty large).

Why I thought he'd end up paying safety. Not a thumper, but he's got a bigger frame and is better in coverage than LeCounte - and he's a pretty sure tackler.

He also played a lot of safety in HS - may have been the best in the country for his class.

Campbell's inability to turn his head and make sure where the ball is will never cease to amaze me. It's half of your fricking job.

Podcast this past weekend said that they are coached to turn their heads at the last moment so as not to lose the receiver. Knowing when "the last moment" is sounds pretty difficult.

He's played in less than 20 career games and started as a TFr in the SEC opposite a guy that nobody wanted to throw to. We all want these 5* to come in and cover like deandre from day 1 but that's not reality. I think last Saturday was the best I've ever seen Tyson to be honest. He looked fantastic, really hate he's now not 100%. I think the TC we see by November of this year looks nothign like the one from NOvember of last year.

Agreed.
Even Deandre Baker didn't get the start in 2016. He was behind Juwan Briscoe until after our losses to Ole Miss and Tennessee. This was his sophomore season.

Agreed. PFF graded him out over a 90.

Would prefer to have fully healthy backups rather than receivers who are only 80-85%

I think Landers got his shot but it's Pickens spot now. We should be fine with Blaylock/Pickens/Cager out there.

D-Rob is in there somewhere as well. Blaylock/Pickens/Cager/D-Rob are the 4 at WR.

Swift/Cook/Zeus are the 3 at RB.

Upperclassmen got most of the reps initially (as they should) and the cream rose to the top.
