But on the real I want the Braves to be able to wear a damn hat without a fricking race war breaking out.

And this is coming from a Cherokee.

Sorry, what I was getting at was the fact that there are other "Indian" teams (Cleveland and DC) who aren't taking heat for this BS (or if they are, they're choosing not to give a rats arse). You don't even have to go outside of the whole "Indian" heritage to find other teams who aren't censoring themselves.
The Redskins constantly take a lot of heat for not changing their name but management frankly doesn't care what anyone thinks about them and will not change anything. I'd go as far to say that the 'Skins take more heat for their mascot/team name than the Braves do.

You're probably right, but my point is that you don't see them changing a damn thing, either. The Braves caved on reviving Knock-A-Homa before they ever released it. PC management.

Yeah but a huge difference is that the Braves made the mistake of taking him away in the first place. It's hard to take something away b/c it's "racially offensive" and then bring it back so many years later like it never happened.

Yeah, redskin is a derogatory term, though. Brave isn't. Although I can see how the screaming savage might offend some.

Still, I thought they took away the whole indian thing because Chief Noc A Homa kept getting bombed in his teepee during games. I didn't think it had to do with race.

The Redskins name and logo are under constant assault, much more so than the Braves. Redskins management refuses to acknowledge it at this point because of how much money a name change would cost them. The Redskins name and logo are among the most iconic in sports.

If the NFL forces the Redskins to change it, I wouldn't be surprised to see Daniel Snyder sue the league for a fairly large sum of lost revenue. Most Redskins fans (myself included) would refuse to acknowledge the name change and would not buy any of the new gear. That would result in a huge loss of revenue for the franchise.
