If I had to pick the lesser of two evils, Tennessee would be my choice. There is nothing road trip worthy about Auburn, not even the women.

Knoxville would be my choice. I lived there for a year and enjoyed the city. I've never been to Auburn and have no desire to go there.

Wow, what a choice. Tennessee fans are obnoxious, especially now that they haven’t been relevant for awhile and think they’re stealing al of our talent (Proot, Chaney, Gibbs). Knoxville is a shiteshow on game weekend. There are a few decent bars/restaurants near the river and downtown. But most of K’ville is fast food chain central. It’s a butt ugly town. Auburn is probably one of the three most boring college towns in the SEC. It’s like a small oasis in an Alabama desert. Alabama has some pretty places, Auburn ain’t one of them. Game day is similar to Athens, with the stadium on campus. Don’t expect anything nearly similar to the Athens downtown though.
It’s really a toss up. Pick the one that’s closest to you and have low expectations.

I've got friends who went to Auburn and have had a good time there, but if I had to pick, Knoxville > Auburn. Depending on who all is going, and whether you can get there early or stay an extra day, get out on a boat and enjoy yourself. Downtown there has actually been built up a bit... not stellar but some decent little spots.

I know it is early, but who is planning on going to Tuscaloosa in 2020?

Not 100% yet, but highly probable.

Auburn better gameday festivities, feel, atmosphere, Stadium, etc
Auburn has only a few bars and restaurants are over crowded on gameday
Tennessee’s gameday atmosphere is slightly lacking and the stadium sucks. The puke orange gets annoying and the song that shall not be named makes you want to stab your ear with an ice pick, and that’s before the game starts
Knoxville has more places to stay, better bar scene and you can actually get into restaurants
Fans slightly better at UT right now as well

UT everyday for me. Make it a long weekend and stay in Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge/Townsend and either do some exploring/sightseeing/hiking in the Smokies or get your redneck on in G'burg and PF on Fri and Sun.
Knoxville is pretty cool on gameday, even tho they've been shite the vibe is good for UGA. Check out the Navy, Calhouns and the area around the erector set...
Opelika/AU is a day trip, watch the game and gtf outta Bama ASAP...
JMHO...

I've been to both places for away games. Tennessee is the much better choice, imo.

For the game itself,Id have to go with Auburn...stadium is just designed better and more room in the aisles and with your seat.
Have to go with Knoxville for the better overall experience

I had more friends at auburn so I had more fun there but I’d say Knoxville was a better experience. To be honest, though, neither are notable trips. Both kind of blow. Auburn has like 2-3 bars and Knoxville is ugly as sin and been under construction for what seems like 28 years

Jordan Harre is a nicer stadium. I hate Neyland. Knoxville is a nicer town than Auburn, though.

I've been to both many times and this is a hard one to answer, it kind of depends on what you're looking to get out of the trip.
-UT has the river and the vol navy which is cool. If you're able to tailgate at Calhoun's that's a major plus but each time we go (2 years apart obviously) they get stricter and stricter. In 2017 the deal was all cars there had to be moved by about 1am or so or they'd be towed, then they allowed public to come in and park starting at around 4am or so. Crazy. And once you park you can leave it you don't have to stay there. I think we sent a buddy around 5am to park a car and he got about the last available spot in the lot. Calhoun's is right on the river wiht the boats and is a major dawg contingent. I honestly couldn't even recommend somewhere else for dawgs bc I'm not familiar.
-In my trips I haven't seen much of what you'd call a campus, as we mostly just walk from the river up to the stadium. The stadium looks massive from the outside but is honestly a bit underwhelming inside. It has this extreme attendance capacity but when you're actually in there looking around it doesn't really look at the much bigger or different than any other big SEC stadium.
-Teh fans will probably be pretty hostile, especially with their renewed vigor with pruitt and them taking chaney.
-Auburn you will likely experience more of a campus feel and more traditional tailgates.
-Their fans, despite their message board tards, are not bad and will likely be pretty friendly. Their stadium is a pretty standard SEC stadium but with a big video board, but the eagle entrance is cool.
-Unless you are in mcgill or have ~200K points you will be sitting in the upper deck, which is pretty steep. That's if you get tickets through UGA...if you buy aftermarket I would recommend looking lower level in the corner endzone area.
If forced ot choose I'd recommend AU.

Only been to Knoxville. But if people who have been to both are saying the best thing about Knoxville is Calhouns then Auburn must really be a shite destination.

When I went to Tennessee a bunch in the early to mid 2000s I would stay in Sevierville or Piegon Forge and drive over to Knoxville for the game. Nothing in Knoxville interested me enough to stay there.

We're going up to Knoxville this year. I've been to Auburn a few times. I had a bunch of friends there while in college. Auburn people are generally friendly unless you run across the fans who got off the farm to tailgate for the game. I think having a tailgate party or group to go with is a must if you go to Auburn. Going to knoxville this year. We're probably going to drive up that day and go to the game; then maybe stay in Pigeon Forge that night.
