I'm going to try to stay on top of baseball this year, I watched here and there last year. Hopefully, fingers crossed, we will be good enough to shock some people. Who will be our starting 1B now though?

I agree. I take the preseason rank with a grain of salt. Stricklin is a shitty coach. I fully expect a disappointing season.

I hate stricklin and think he's a total bum. He's almost exaclty like Fox in that he's clearly not going to win us anythign of note, overall hasn't recruited all that well relative to his peers, but has done JUST ENOUGH to not get canned. Every year he's been here he has been an utter dumpster fire, until last year when we ended up making the postseason. I'm shocked we're ranked as high as we are in preseason but it sure beats the alternative. Knowing mcgarity we could go sub-.500 again but stricklin will still be back because we made regionals last year.
At any rate, I'm hoping for a good season adn am real excited to see the freshman wilcox. It's always so fun having a good baseball team.

Not trying to defend Striklin, but he did bring in a top 25 recruiting class this year headlined by one of the best players in the country that didnt go pro in Cole Wilcox.

1B is likely Patrick Sullivan unless/until a JUCO or freshman supplants him.
Lacking a lot of power from last year after losing Curry, McGovern, and Sasser but return some solid hitters in Schunk, Bradley, Talley, Shepherd, and Moose. Hopefully one of the JUCO bats shows up for us and a freshman or two have a solid debut. Need Sullivan to step up.
Biggest saving grace for this team should be the pitching which is poised to be the best staff top to bottom that Stricklin has had. If we can get out of the arms what we should, bats should be good enough to keep us competitive against every team we play.
Overall, this group likely won’t be a national seed again but they should be a 2 in a local regional and could even host in Athens if all goes well.

right I mentioned wilcox, I also said "relative to his peers". Richt would bring in ~10th ranked classes which sounds fun but it's kind of meaningless when it was only 4th or 5th in our own league.
Perfect game ranked wilcox's class 63rd good for dead f'n last in the SEC. D1Baseball has us 25th or 10th in the SEC. Baseball America I don't see a ranking but there are 9 SEC teams in the top 25th and we aren't one. I'm happy we have cole but let's not act like stricklin has turned some major corner in recruiting. When missouri and tennessee baseball are lapping us in recruiting there is something seriously wrong.

Keep in mind, too, that baseball recruiting rankings don’t always translate given that many top ranked programs see their best recruits go pro after signing. Perno consistently had us signing one of if not the top classes every year but damn near half of those guys never made it to Athens. Hell, we signed Jayson Werth one year and obviously he never played here. Much more important in baseball to sign guys who you can coach and develop (though you can argue that the coaching and developing had been an issue before last season)

Stricklin is a shitty coach, period.
Add to that his arrogant attitude towards recruiting and pissing off the folks that run Perfect Game and the East Cobb program and this team likely doesn't see the post season.

Friday game bumped up to 3PM
Will Proctor will start Saturday, Tony Locey on Sunday with Wilcox slated as our midweek starter.
Riley King getting the start in right field with Bradley in Left and Maxwell and Smith platooning Center.
No official word on who is slated to DH but I’d guess Kaden Fowler or the grad transfer from tulane, maybe even Shane Marshall
