The score of the Mizzou game last year in Athens. People tend to forget.

We didn’t look great on the LOS at times yesterday, but we beat a decent SEC team on the road by 2 TDs.

I think we will get the kinks worked out.

We don’t know how good anyone is yet. As of right now I’d take Missouri over every SEC team outside of Bama, Ga, LSU, and Auburn.

The score of the Mizzou game last year in Athens

The games weren't remotely similar. We had 700 yards of offense and scored 6 offensive TD's in '17 compared to 3 and 440+ yards this year.Mizzou's offense did have
4 passing TD's but 1 was at garbage time and the other came off a turnover on our own 5 yard line. This year they had 4 rushing TD's and maybe 1 was a gimme (BS roughing call)

Our DL dominated their OL in all phases last year and this year Our DL was manhandled most of the 2nd half although we were able to get some pressure on Lock.Nobody on that Mizzou OL is gonna make any type ALL SEC team (not even honorable mention)or play on Sunday.

Not pushing the panic button but just saying we need to grow up on the DL and keep our guys healthy on the OL...we're still way too young to plug and play on both sides of the LOS.

I think our DL had 6 solo tackles on Saturday.

I do not believe the DL is the issue as much as we do not have a Roquan or L Carter acting as the eraser at the 2nd level.

Can the DL be better? Yes. But they could have been better last season (Roquan cleaned up a ton)

I will concede missing atkins.

When our 1 and 3 tech players are interchangeable regardless of down and distance... we don't have a true nose.

Sure and Rice missing the game hurt as well.

UGA is last in the SEC in sacks and TFL, but has given up the fewest big plays (3 of 20+ yards) of any defense in the SEC. Two of those plays occurred when UGA was winning by 28 or more points. They are sacrificing aggressiveness in favor of not allowing big plays.

South Carolina and Mizzou are both pretty good offensively. If the front 7 gets pushed around by the Vols this weekend, I'll be legitimately concerned.

The biggest difference was that We were tied with them 21-21 in the second quarter and then outscored them 32-7 the rest of the game in 2017. We took over the game in the second half.

We never had control of the game flow at any point against them this time. This game was never controlled and we never put them away. There was a point with 6 minutes left where they were driving down the field to make it a one score game.

The nucleus of the 2017 team was that we wouldn’t let our foot off any opponents’ throats and would break teams. We never were able to do that yesterday. And that, is disconcerting.

Yeah. The concern for me is rushing TDs and allowing rushing TDs.

We did a masterful job on Lock.
But the red zone is the money zone. And we can't allow that type if effort and technique in the redzone.

And the inability to get 1 yard when we need it... scary. I know we are banged up. But we have to re-establish that identity. We need to find the line to gain on 3rd down and in the red zone.

These are the keys to the seccg. We can be a different team in November than who we were on saturday.

That play where we brought in all the big guys and still couldn't pick up that yard? What if Fromm had bootlegged around the left end?

Mizzou will win 9, maybe 10 games

Would not be surprised if they get a NY6 bowl

also expect them to drop off next year, but still be a solid 8ish win team

Looks like the East is finally catching up with the West, I think we see the East win the cross division record for the 1st time in a long while

They'll obviously lose to Bama and their games with SC,UK and even UF are toss ups. They aren't going to a NY6 bowl.

I was also concerned with the first down runs for 5-7 yards. Middle Tenn did the same thing...had success on early downs running the ball.

Kirby teams pride and are built around stopping the run first. We didn't do that yesterday and did it half assed against Middle Tenn.

We HAVE to get better against the run if we hope ot accomplish anything this year.

Our dline this year is serviceable at best and our Linebacking core have been really mediocre.

Good news is...we are young but super talented across the board so hopefully we will start to see improvement starting this weekend, but we 100% are not even close to the defense we were last year.

Yeah. Sometimes, we want patience at the line for the holes to open. Having the safety come around like that punished us for that style.

The defensive play call beat us on that one.

If we broke through the line, there was no safety and we get the easy touchdown.

We have to play better. But the defensive gamble paid off

It will be a concern going forward against spread power teams (auburn, maybe Kentucky).

Against Mizzouri, we left 6 in the box and forced the Tigers to string together 10-14 play drives to march the field.

The benefit is that we didn't give the easy scores. We really shut down Lock and we won comfortably.

The question is will we take the same approach against Vandy, Kentucky, Florida, and Auburn? Probably not. But we aren't talented enough to stop the run game if we are spread out and keep a 2 deep safety look.

Dont forget that Rice didnt play a snap and at times we had 5 and sometimes 6 deep guys protecting agaonst their big play capabilities. But our red zone and short yardage defense was flat out horrible most of yhe time.

I hope we give all our dinged up guys this week off...we can beat UT without em.
