I mean you were using the banging head gif. And it sounds like you were freaking out about it despite others telling you not to worry about it so much.

Sounds like a business decision. Appears Kirbs knows how to recruit lineman. Trust the process.

Deone Walker? Christen Miller? What about them?

It sounds like a mutual decision. He could still come to UGA but he knows he won't play as much as he can if he goes to FSU.

Good grief dude. A discussion about a top recruit decommiting leads to this.

Look at my first response to you. I'm not the one who decided they wanted to double down on making a mountain out of a mole hill. Believe what you want, we'll see how it all shakes out in the end. If losing Tyre ends up looking like a net loss, I'll acknowledge it.

Expected to be in this class at this point to my knowledge.

Deone Walker

Honestly don't know personally. Haven't followed his recruitment. Sounds like he's coming in for an OV this weekend (along with Shone Washington), so I'd say keey an eye out for updates after this weekend. Probably will have a better sense after the visit.

Just so some posters on here are up to date....here is a list (from the other board) of players we are in it for and some that we feel strongly about AT THIS TIME:

Kamari Wilson-S 247
Shemar James-LB 247
Hero Kanu-DT 247
Jaheim Singletary-CB 247
Earnest greene-IOL 247
Christen Miller-DL 247
These are all players we feel strongly about.

We are in it for the following:
Shone Washington-DT 247
Deone Walker-DT 247
Shemar Stewart-DL 247 (A bit of a longshot, though)

Long shots but are talking to:

Shazz Preston-WR 247
Evan Stewart-WR 247

I am sure there are others, but these are the ones most likely.

We are expecting to take somewhere around 25-27 and an additional several through the transfer portal.

Disclaimer: NONE of this is my information. I am not an insider and know nothing. This came from another board and/or other posters.
OH! Feel free to add to these names. I do know Pearson is in it and others. I just wanted to show people we are still in it for some strong players.

I'd go ahead and assume it will be at least 27 unless we get some late surprise losses from players we felt very good about and/or had commitments from. Good chance it's closer to 29, still leaving room for up to 3 portal grabs. It's a moving target as always, because of course if there is a surprise young player available in the portal but has already shown out in college in year 1 for example (eg. Maason Smith - not saying he's transferring, but if he was available, do you take him or a Shone Washington/Deone Walker type?) they may get prioritized.

That whole top grouping, short of Hero Kanu are *extremely strong* feelings... some are thought to be silent commits and a matter of when not if.

Kanu has been extremely positive discussion of late (thought to be part of the reason why Tyre looked elsewhere).

Shone/Deone - this is essentially an either/or it sounds like... both visiting and have a chance to grab a slot.

Shemar Stewart - follow the visits here. If we get his last OV, we're at least in the mix. If we don't, assume we have no chance. (also, keep an eye on Lebbeus Overton possible reclassification to '22)

Shazz Preston - probably not
Evan Stewart - wait and see... Friends with Humphrey. If he visits, let's see how it goes
Kevin Coleman - probably not but better shot than Preston

I was thinking this, but was not confident in remembering correctly the numbers that were given.

Yeah. This is why I went ahead and put him in the top group. As always...recruiting is fluid.

I agree with everything you said and feel better now that you read it the same as i have.

Sometimes the other board can change quickly, so I was not real confident about posting this over here.

Shemar James-LB

Just a heads up, James is not making his scheduled visit to Athens this weekend.

He isn't visiting Tuscaloosa either.

He's apparently decided to stay home.

Interesting. I wonder what is going on there. Some of our guys feel pretty strongly thta he will be in our class. Hopefully they are right. We all know how recruiting can be.

Dawgs commit Marquis Groves-Killebrew tore his ACL this past week. It seems every year at least 1 star recruit has had a ACL injury. Dam good thing we flipped Julian Humphrey.

Shemar James is a rival school for my son. My son said the word on the street is he wants to attend UGA but Shemar doesn’t feel like he is good enough to compete. At the start of the season, my son said Shemar was the best player in the county.

More good news on the 2023 front. Mansell put in a CB for 2023 Joenel Aguero 5* Safety. We might be continuing the success of our 2022 class. I mean, we already were off to a big start, but this guy looks legit.

Btw, Gunner put up crazy stats in his playoff game Friday. 22-24 for 468 yards and 4 TD’s plus 60 yards rushing and 3 rushing TD’s. All against a defense in Jeff Davis that hadn’t allowed more than 15 points all year.

Go Dawgs!
