We signed the #1 class in America. Its amazing how thats not enough for some people.

Also, when we were landing the majority of the best instate players many of them ended up being busts. It seems like our bust rate in state is a little higher than others for some reason. That said, you still take the studs from in state if you can get them but nothing wrong with going global in recruiting. Bama doesn't win national titles relying on just that states talent I can promise you that.

Our State talent and their state talent is a little bit different. #1 class in the nation is great, but if we don’t win a NC soon those out of state kids will stop listening to us over their hometown favorites. You know who will come to UGA wether we win one or not????? Home grown talent that loves UGA and grows up watching them every Saturday.

That is not a significant population of teenage football players, even locally. Prospects don’t make decisions that way very often.

Georgia has much more in state talent than Alabama does

Georgia is also bordered by 5 major universities and some are much closer to their campus than Athens. AU is on the border, UT is close to our Northern border and FSU is closer to any kids on our southern border. This isn't an LSU situation where we literally have no battle for instate kids. Georgia kids in Atlanta are also a lot more transient than other locations.

UGA is still the hometown team and still the favorite for the majority of these kids. These schools definitely harder to recruit the state both there is no reason we shouldn't get 6 of the top 10 if we wanted them. We have too much talent to let these kids get away. Deshaun Watson would probably have saved Richt's job. Imagine if we would have got Trevor Lawrence to sign. Noone would be complaining about our d-line if we have gotten derrick brown and montravious adams. These are kids we cant let get away.

You act like some of these kids don’t want to just leave and go away. These are 18 year old boys. They get attached to certain coaches or schools for certain reasons. We are recruiting just fine right now...couple #1 classes. Who gives a shite if they are from GA or Alaska??? And why 6 out of top 10? You just making up numbers and acting like we don’t try for people?

There is absolutely no reason for anybody to be complaining about our DLine under Kirby Smart. It was definitely a strength of the team last season.

We have recruited well there the last 2-3 cycles, and even the lower ranked players have played well there. It is a combination of recruiting good players, coaching them up, gaining depth and recognizing underrated players and getting them.

We have finished top 5 in the country two of the last 3 seasons and finished tied for 7th the other. At some point our fans have to stop second guessing our coaches and trusting them.

Yes a few will, but only a few. Besides Drob how many recruits can you name that were top 10 in GA and just wanted to leave the state.

Yes I did make up that number which seemed like a logical statistic for me to throw out there considering we are the home state school. My point is we should get the majority of these guys from in state, when we want them. Now I understand we recruit over them, but there is still no reason for missing out on some of these guys. Tank Bigsby good example from last year

Have you always been this shitty of a poster? As long as we’re in the hunt most years and continue to get kids to the NFL we will get national recruits.

As far as being the home town team you are forgetting that a large portion of metro Atlanta are transplants and have no allegiance to UGA. Hell, we aren’t the majority in metro Atlanta. Those kids go wherever the best fit it. See Trevor Lawrence as an example.

Did you know that Clemson did not get a single top 10 player from South Caolina in spite of having some very worthy players such as Alex Huntley, Jordan Burch, Luke Doty and Jalen Hyatt?

In 2019 Clemson only got 1 in spite of having some worthy prospects like Zaach Pickens, Cameron Smith, and Jacoby Pinckney?

In 2018 they got 3 while missing on Channing Tindall Dakereon Joyner.

In 2017 Clemson got 1 top 10 player in South Carolina while missing on OrTre Smith, Shi Smith, and Brad Johnson.

In 2019 Alabama got 4 of their top 10, missing on George Pickens, Clay Webb, Bo Nix, Mahamoud Diabate,
Christian Williams.

In 2018, Alabama got 1 of their top 10 and missed on Justyn Ross, Coynis Miller, Harold Joiner, Seth Williams, Jack West, Andres Fox.

We all know that LSU has a reputation for keeping kids at home, yet they got 3 of the top 10 recruits out of Louisiana in 2020, missing on Sedrick VanPran, Edgerrin Cooper, Ashad Clayton, Major Burns and Eric Reed.

In 2018 they got 5. They missed on Justin Rogers, Devonta Jason, Pookie Williams...

Yes, LSU still keeps more in state than most. I realize that.

But, my point is that the importance of keeping kids home in state is overrated today. In the past when there was very little TV, Internet and social media exposure it was bad to allow in state kids go elsewhere. now there is a lot more exposure and opportunities to attract the very best players from around the country. And, Georgia will pull a goodly portion of in state top talent this year....because the in state talent warrants it.

ETA
As for Tank Bigsby...I personally liked him. I think he will be an excellent back. but, we went after Zach Evans and put Tank on hold. Looking back on it, it might have been a mistake. We could have gotten him if we had gone after him hard earlier, but he got impatient and got his feelings hurt because we put Evans as a higher priority. It was just one of those things.

So when we aren’t in the hunt year in and out what kids will be watching UGA then?

South Carolina does not have the same talent level as UGA. I’m not knocking the classes we are getting or the fact that the UGA brand has gone national, I just know it won’t be that way always. I understand not every kid that lives in GA are UGA fans, but no matter where that kid goes in GA he sees UGA shirts and hats. When he turns on the TV he can always catch a UGA game during the season. More than likely some of his coaches will be UGA fans. I just think we should be getting more of these highly rated instate kids. Kirby once thought we should put a border around the state and no one trashed him for it

Absolutely true. But you would think Clemson would be able to get what they do have, wouldn't you?

I have no problem with your opinion, but when we are pulling #1 classes, it's just hard for me to understand why there is a problem. Kirby has recruited well wherever he has been. Now...if we fall out of contention for a bit, then I suspect Kirby will be let go and we will find someone else, so I am not sure how that is a concern, either. I mean, we have finished in the top 4 two out of the last three years and tied for 7th the other year. Alabama can't make that claim.

Why the hell are you even bringing that up. We have enough talent to be in the hunt every year. We’ve won the East and finished in the top ten three straight years with no signs of slowing down.

We also got Zach Evans. It’s not like we missed on him. He just ended up making some poor decisions so we had to let him go. I don’t mind it at all. Gotta take risks sometimes. Worked out with Pickens, didn’t with Evans.

Alabama can make a lot of claims we can’t. It used to be unheard of also that Alabama didn’t get a guy they wanted, especially instate. Either way idk why you all got so butt hurt about it. I simply stated we need to do a better job instate. If you don’t agree cool, it’s not like I’m trashing the job he is doing. Anyway it’s makes for good conversation through social distancing and being quarantine
