Murphy and Breese fit Clemson’s system better. I guess it will just be our #1 o line vs their #1 d line for years to come

I really hope Kirby cans Tray Scott soon. He has had plenty of chances, but at this point the book is out. He is a sorry arse recruiter.

I wouldn’t say that. He just isn’t as good as everyone else on the staff. That’s a really high bar though.

Doesn’t a #1 DE fit everyone’s scheme

Call it whatever you want. He is woefully behind the standard of our staff.

Yes but he can make more of an impact in Clemson's scheme then ours

Do you mean system as in a pipeline into the NFL Draft? Or system as in just having a disruptive defensive front? Because... Yeah... They've been doing both well...

I've been the Captain on the "Give Tray Scott a shot" vessel for a while, but this year is put up or shut up IMHO. He's a fine coach but a pretty meh recruiter thus far. If Kirby says the SEC is won and lost on the line of scrimmage, we can't afford a mediocre recruiter at the position.

So Clemson is about to get Bresee, Burch, and Murphy. Wow. They will be stacked at the DL.

I’ve been on the “give him time” train up until the last few months. 2020 was his class, so we were told.

The guy can’t close. Not saying he is a bum, but he can’t close at a high level. DL is too important a position to be handled by the unquestionable worst recruiter on staff.

The season hasn’t even started, give the staff some time.

I agree, UGA thrives on recruiting once the season starts. Unfortunately the guys everyone getting mad about are going to be committing to Clemson. Once they do all hope is lost. Dabo makes them shut their recruitments completely down. I was never a fan of the Tray Scott hire, but was willing to give him a chance. After our dismal d-line play last year and how the recruiting is going, he should be on the hot seat this year

This I agree with. I still think there is enough talent out there for UGA to be just fine on the D-line.

How long is a chance?

This is Scott’s third recruiting cycle.

He is a decent coach. He cannot close at a UGA level.

Yea but we wont be more than just fine. That talent we are going to be going against we need a great line. Also how come Tray Scott couldn't get either of these guys on campus while they were also visiting Clemson? Both Breese and Murphy earlier this year seemed leaning towards UGA, then all of a sudden they are Clemson locks. Where was Kirby and Scott when this happened?

I wasn’t thrilled with Scott either but atleast he isn’t Rocker. He did go out and find Davis so I’m willing to give him this season then afterwards if it’s the same ole story I’ll jump ship.

Speaking of shitty coaches, did any of you guys see land barge Chaney wobbling around that shithole stadium in Knoxville? I wanna send JP a fruit basket or something for pulling that tub of goo out of Athens.

Y'all need to pump the brakes on Scott. He is doing as well as any class we've had other than the 2016 class. Current 2020 class is 2 high prospects away from being a very good Dline class.

2020 - Two 4*s, top 2 DTs in Georgia
2019 - one 5* and two 4*s
2018 - One 4* and Jordan Davis 3* SEC Freshman ALLAmerican

This... I fully agreed with giving him the benefit of the doubt through the 2019 cycle... With that said, most reports out of camp are that the DL is the least in shape group, and he's routinely missed on guys that could have come in and not just contributed but had major roles...

Just in the last 2 classes, these are guys that we reasonably should have been able to get into the mix with if not pull...

Zacch Pickens - Understand it's the instate school, but see below re: USC
Chris Hinton - never considered us... excuse: B1G family
Justin Eboigbe - heavy Bama family fandom but we were on him early
Josh Belk (both times) - first time to Clemson kinda made sense... second time to USC, I never heard a good explanation here?
Rick Sandidge ? - not sure if we should count him as there were rumors that he wanted to change his mind, but again... we shouldn't be losing our choice DL to USC

It's not that you can't reasonably find excuses for each individual loss...

It's the mounting *number* of times we have to make excuses.

Jordan Davis ended up being a great pull... but we've had great 3* and low 4* pulls from other coaches as well. John Atkins/Daquan Hawkins for example... We cannot strategize around hoping that 3*'s pan out better than their recruiting ranking.

We continue to wonder why our sack/TFL totals are low, and yet... it's pretty obvious that we are at least somewhat undermanned on the DL and our LBs have to supplement that deficiency. We may not be "aggressive" in that we go heavy blitz, but the excuses typically end up that our DL and our LB have "too many responsibilities"... at some point, it's someone's job to knock the QB down or tackle someone behind the LOS. If we don't have that in our bag of tricks and don't intend to, I question Kirby's philosophy.

We got a CB for #1 TE Darnell Washington. Also apparently OU leads for 3 5 star backs. There is no way they will get all 3, so I would think we will be looking really good for Kendall Milton after this weekend.
