Dawgs have already been pre-season ranked #7 by Collegiate Baseball to start the year. Based on those preseason rankings, we are slated to play #2, #8, #9, #14, #21, and #28 during the regular season.

Roster notes
- Hancock and Wilcox are both expected to be taken in the 1st round of the MLB Draft in June
- This might be the best pitching staff top to bottom that UGA has ever had, backed by what should be another solid defense (all upperclassmen in the infield)
- Cam Shepherd is back after winning a Gold Glove at Shortstop last year
- Tucker Bradley is back after an early season injury last year
- Dawgs will miss Aaron Schunk (3B, Closer), LJ Talley (2B), Tucker Maxwell (CF), and John Cable (DH)
- DH in particular will be a position that may operate on a platoon system
- Ben Anderson is expected to be this year's Riley King, emerging as a big threat for us in RF
- Garrett Blaylock started his career at Vandy, transferring in from St John's River CC. Expected to provide much needed power for us from the 3B spot

Scheduling notes
- No crossover weekends this year with basketball, unfortunately
- Suntrust Park game vs Tech has been moved to Coolray Field as a result of the ski thing messing up the Suntrust turf
- Our road slate is absolutely brutal with games @Florida, @ Vandy, @ Arkansas, and @A&M
- We play Coastal Carolina in Athens midweek which is neat
- We play two neutral site games this year (the Coolray game vs Tech and a game at SRP Park in Augusta vs Ga Southern)
- Decent number of Saturday night games this year which is nice

Related to Dominick? I know he was a big baseball player in high school.

Nah, Garrett is a white dude from Asheville

Though I wish some of the athletes who play football were allowed to play baseball too. I think Ryland Goede might be the only one since Sam Vaughn who is going to/being allowed to try

My daughter attends Ole Miss. We live in Bama and had we lived in state she had the grades and ACT to attend UGA, out of state they said nah. Anyhow, Ole Miss should have a good team as well this year and may need to drive up and catch a game during that series. I will be going a Vandy/Ole Miss game. That should be a good one to watch.

Last season a young man from my neck of the woods was on the roster... Hunter Goodwin. Freshman pitcher from Sylvester, GA. I don't see him on this year's roster. Anyone know where the kid went?

Honestly not sure. Baseball is weird like that, though, guys just kind of disappear for one reason or another. Sometimes they transfer to a smaller school, sometimes they just lose the love of the game, in some cases they become ineligible or lose HOPE which they’d been using to cover costs.

Just noticed the tech series. Normally we play them midweek (home/away/braves) throughout the year, why did they move jt to a weekend series this year?

South Carolina and Clemson do it and it’s a big deal for the state so Techa and UGA have been trying to work out a weekend series for a few years now. Also allows us to throw our best pitchers at one another which we typically don’t get to do

Season tickets for baseball are officially sold out and that’s after taking away two general admission sections to add more season ticket options

A bit OT, but did anyone else see that Auburn hired Tim Hudson as their new pitching coach? How big a deal is that?!?

I mean it’s pretty cool. But a lot of former big leaguers have been joining the college ranks as volunteer coaches or pitching coaches. Huddy obviously knows some stuff but remains to be seen if he actually bring any value to their program beyond some recruiting clout

Just had knee replacement surgery Friday. If I'm up to walking and being on my feet for long stretches I might come over that weekend. Had two PT sessions this week so it looks like a possibility.
