I mean, Tennessee was a “bigger challenge” and we handled them well. UT has 2 top 20 wins and a close loss to Memphis, who we beat.
Miss State hasn’t beaten a ranked team and has not looked good in SEC play so far.
You are basically saying that every game forward is an indicator how how good this team is.....lol
Also, it’s clear, we go as far as AntMan and Hammonds take us. They continue to play team ball and defense, we will certainly be dancing come March

Mississippi State is WAY better than Tennessee.
The reason this is a good indicator is because Miss State is a middle of the pack team.
We lost to Kentucky and Auburn, the two best teams in the SEC, and beat Tennessee who will probably finish #11 or #12.
A lot of people won’t want to hear it but Tennessee absolutely sucks this year. Ever since they lost Turner they lost what little hope they have.
If we can consistently beat the Mississippi States/Alabama’s of the conference, we can make the tournament.
Not trying to be a buzzkill, but we still have a lot to prove.

Thanks. I enjoy it. I really want us to do well this year. If we miraculously get as far as the Sweet 16, I’m hoping our fan base will take more of an interest in basketball.

I have absolutely never said I don't care about basketball on the Rant.
But maybe that's not what you're talking about.
Most of you should be able to tell when I'm messing with people vs being actually serious. There is a reason I always get banned from the Rant but never the team boards (except that one time on here).
There are two sides to the Diddly:
The first one is the one in this thread. I post stats, share informative facts, and make clear and logical arguments. I do that on the Bama board too and they like me. I am usually in this state 80% of the time. Someone actually called me SummerOfGeorge Jr. the other day.
The other 20% of the time, I'm trying to receive death threats. People take the Rant way too seriously.
Most of the people on the Rant can tell what I'm doing. But it's too easy. Now all I have to do is mention Jamie Newman and I get a dozen quick downvotes.
If you want me to not act like that, I suggest you don't read my posts on the Rant. Most people can tell the difference between me and a MsGarrison or Errerrewere. The ones who can't are morons. They are the ones still responding to my Jimbo vs O thread on the front page.
The truth is, I only have serious conversations with people worth having conversations with. Could you imagine trying to have a logical debate with an LSU fan right now?
I'm never not going to poke fun at people on the Rant. It is way too entertaining for me. However, I can promise you I'll never act like that on this board.
I'd been much more behaved the last few months, but there has been a lot of hsit thrown around that board the last few weeks. It's impossible to have any real discussion anywhere but the team boards. I went hard at the LSU fans this week but I will slow down again.
Besides everyone knows I'm better in basketball season.

Those posters are the true embarassment to our fanbase. Not me. And there are quite a few of them. You should know that I more than make up for what I post in satire with serious content.
If you really think if I am a complete troll, why in the world would I post the percent of returning snaps per position group for SEC teams? How about when I kept up with the win percentages of Power 5 conferences throughout bowl season? What about that time I made a fan-voted All-SEC decade team poll? Or SEC basketball stat leaders? Why did I do an SEC football games of the decade series? What about SEC Fantasy Teams of the Weeks? Or my re-rankings of past recruiting classes?
Why would I update this thread, every game, with individual, team, and advanced stats, for a fanbase who in general doesn't care about basketball? I guess I do all that to embarrass our fanbase too.

I've said as much elsewhere that your post quality has *vastly* improved over your starting point, but if you can't recognize the irony in YOU complaining about OTHERS being embarrassing to the fanbase, I'm not sure what to tell you.
I, like DOT34, am very pleased with this thread in general and what you're doing with it, so keep up the good work. I don't even disagree with the premise that it's annoying as shite to see people poo poo basketball, or treat it with complete disregard. Particularly when we have an exciting product finally (after years in limbo with Fox). But that's what we are as a program. Crean has a lot of work to win over fans, and it's going to take some kind of electric tourney run to really start to turn the corner. That's what happens when your school has functionally no basketball history. It sucks, but it is what it is.
