Just in time for the weekend
My yard is all kinds of fricked up right now from the hot/sunny then rainy/cold weather.

We were up 11-0, then gave up 8 runs in the top of the eighth before the game was stopped due to lightning. We were on the verge of the most epic collapse ever, gave up 4 bases loaded walks (WHAT THE ACTUAL frick???) before the weather saved us.
Game is supposed to resume today with Fresno having 2 on with 1 out in the top of the 8th. Hopefully we got our shite together overnight and can close this series undefeated.

Yeah to be fair it was raining pretty hard when those walks happened. I’m sure the grip on the ball was awful

Ya, that was tough to watch. 64 and sunny here today though. Let's go close it out

Things got a little chippy at Lindsey Nelson Stadium this weekend as words were exchanged frequently between the two teams.
After some chirping over the first game and a half, things came to a head in the eighth inning of Saturday’s game. The Bulldogs were doing a lot of talking from the dugout as they erased a large portion of the 11 run deficit.
When the umpired sent the game to a rain delay with one-out and two Fresno runners on base the Bulldogs head coach Mike Batesole was irate. The game had mostly been played in a downpour, and he didn’t understand why the game was going to a rain delay after the Bulldogs starter, Nikoh Mitchell, clearly had some problems throwing the ball earlier.
Things intensified the next day when Garrett Crochet struck out back-to-back Fresno State batters on a 3-2 pitch to leave the bases loaded and keep Tennessee’s lead at 11-9.
Crochet proceeded to stare down the Fresno bench while he and some teammates shared some choice words with the Bulldogs.
Both benches then cleared, though umpires successfully got between the two to keep the situation from escalating further.
It feels safe to say Batesole won’t be bringing his squad to Knoxville for a rematch anytime soon.
Vitello said after the game that his team needed to tone it down in some instances, but was glad that he didn’t ever have to light a fire under his team. In all honesty, I think the young coach loved the attitude from his team. It was him who called Batesole “a meatstick” Sunday after the Bulldogs coach said something to one of his players.
We've got the right man for the job

Some baseball news: According to Tennessee head coach Tony Vitello, #Vols junior 1B Luc Lipcius will be out for five weeks with a fractured foot. Fouled a ball off his foot against Fresno State this weekend.
Was hitting .347 with 3 HRs and 14 RBIs.
-Ben McKee on Twitter. I remember the foul ball too. Never thought it was out for 5 weeks bad. Bummer

Well that sucks, gunna be a tough one tonight against Tanner Burns, dude has a .68 era. Hopefully we can keep the ball rolling into SEC play.

Don’t get swept
Win a series here and there
I’m thinking we take 1/3 from the barn

Vols outperformed preseason expectations and there's still a good chance this is a decent team. This is a road series against a team that was 15-2 and ranked going into the weekend, so you should have half expected to lose. The series has at least been competitive, you didn't get rolled 0-12 and get "exposed."

Yeah, competed all weekend, just need to flip the switch and sweep a series at home and it will all even out, just gotta keep on keeping on and flush this weekend now that its over

How do yall feel about the upcoming South Carolina series? Both them and us are coming off a rough start to SEC play but I feel like this is a winnable series to get us back on track. We have played pretty well at Lindsey-Nelson this season so far

Idk how to feel tbh, but I'm pumped up about it. I'll be there with my son hoping for a series W
