Kirby’s DBs still getting torched by deep balls
Saban drills it into DBs to be more concerned with “phase” when in man coverage than knowing if a pass has been made, and Kirby’s guys also don’t look for incoming passes.

For the record, Bama’s DBs are also still afflicted with the phase rather than playing the ball.

It’s gotten to the point where I wish Bama would just play zone the whole game.

So it’s just a Saban/disciple DB philosophy? I was actually happy we finally had an OC who knew how to utilize Cook. Coley used to just run him straight up the middle every touch. Hopefully it’s not just a one off due to that.

DBs are much better than our 2017 lot.

However similar to 2019 (and probably most college teams) we don't have 6 NFL ready DBs for dime coverage. That is why college offenses with elite receivers and OCs are putting up points right now.
