I'm sure at some point, teams will somehow NOT make the SECCG because the extra game doesn't matter to winning a natty.

These games only matter to the money makers and anyone that gets a bonus for making it to the title game and more for winning.

Too much money.

It was only a big money maker because of the 2/4 team’s playoff implications. The demand for the product is diminishing because of the expanded playoff.

It should have been formatted as it was the first round to the playoffs. People just wanted the playoffs so big to give their teams 2nd and 3rd chances.

This isn’t college football anymore. It is minor league pro football. The thing that made college football fun and entertaining was how it was part of your school and the loyalty. None of that exist anymore.

case in point - all the Aggs in here saying “lol, who cares we lost to the Whorns, we’s in the CFP anyways”

that game actually used to mean something, now its an afterthought

eventually all of the big rivalries will be like that

Aside from the fact that it is still a conference championship, there may be times where the extra game provides an opportunity for a team with a weaker schedule or who had a bad showing earlier in the season to earn a spot or a higher spot in the playoffs. It is also an opportunity for a younger team to get experience in a championship-caliber atmosphere in preparation for the playoffs.

Makes you think - at some point in the future - will there even be a sec?

I can honestly see UF leaving the conference someday
