There’s a lot of chatter about him flipping to Oregon. Are you hearing the same thing Miss St fans?

Update: DJ James officially decommits 01/20/2019.

DJ James commits to Oregon on 01/21/2019

No not at all. We’ve been told he’s taking visits to enjoy the trips but the only real threat is Auburn if they push or maybe Ole miss. No chance he leaves SEC territory.

What chatter?

Everything I’ve seen is if he doesn’t go to MSU it’s because Bama/Auburn give him an offer.

I'd flip my weekend plans if someone said hey you want to go to Oregon for free. I wouldn't play in that conference though.

This too, as long as you are in the Pac12 you’ll struggle to recruit DBs.

A CB went to Florida over USC citing Pac12 officials as a big reason.

Y’all call defensive PI way too much out there. The SEC is known for letting CBs get away with a lot more than other conferences, it is why OOC fans struggle to watch our games because our corners are more physical with the receivers.

So, he is quoted as telling Justin Hopkins over at scoopduck that Oregon has a good shot and is right behind Miss St. in his recruitment before the visit. He also talks directly to Cristobal frequently.

I would say that this is just interview talk but Justin is pretty keyed in especially with our secondary coach. Apparently James is a high priority and we've bumped other dbs. Anyway, take it for what it's worth.

Also, every db we are after is from the southeast. Jamal Hill is from Morrow, GA is getting CB'd to us (consequently I don't think Emerson trips). All the other dbs tripping are from the South. We already landed Trikweze from Bama.

Lastly, I know the PAC 12 ref thing is something to consider but you also have to consider that the PAC throws the ball a lot. It really comes down to the selling point of the individual recruit. Steele knows he is getting on the field and he plays very aggressively. That, and the PAC is getting pressure to hold onto the flag. They got a lot better this year.

Oregon is a great school and fantastic state, having made that clear and being from Mobile, AL, Oregon is a LONG WAY from Mobile, hard to pass up nearby Mississippi St which has a very good program.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he went to Oregon at all. But I’m not expecting it. There’s been 0 chatter about a possible flip. Paul is a pretty straight shooting journalist for State and he says it’s really down to State and an Auburn/Bama offer.

Thanks for the specific response instead of generalities about long distance recruiting. Of course, things change quickly this time of year. I would say confidence is building for Oregon but no one is flipping crystal balls to Oregon or saying he is in the flock yet.

Yep. This is recruiting. I would always consider Oregon if I was a recruit. Great program with stellar facilities.

He will have a lot of fun on that trip. Hell, if I were a national recruit, and had no favor to any school or program, I'd consider going to Oregon. DJ just took his first airplane flight when he visited the Cornhuskers, from what I understand. He may not realize how far away Oregon is. Distance is often a factor for families, more so than kids.

DJ James is a very good player but he is not an A level recruit. The long shots at DB that are tripping are Elam and Christian Williams. All 6 DBs that are tripping are from the south east. This ain't Oregon's first rodeo recruiting the south. Football families fly to Oregon as the rule and not the exception. The staff has to be good at discerning whether that is an impediment that can be overcome.

Oregon is signing two more DBs. One needs to be a boundary corner. Exactly 2 tripping are realistic. That's James this next week and Watts the week after. The kid is talking to Cristobal every day. Seems like a lot of time to be playing.

Based on the numbers and need, the staff would be inept. It will be telling if they line up more visits. If not, I would assume that James is at least seriously considering Oregon.

James is good enough to be pursued by Alabama. Really like his talent.

I like James a lot. This staff is on fire. Looks like we get Jamal Hill from Morrow, GA to fill out our DB class too.

Boom Boom

Jamal Hill and DJ James commit back to back.

Oregon completes the flip.

Just goes to show how far a great blowjob will go.**

I have to say I'm shocked he committed given the distance, but I think he sticks being this late in the game. Big loss for us, because he should be rated as a 90-92 4*. Not getting a Bama offer kept his rating low.

Congrats. I like DJ James but Auburn never offered or showed any interest.
