The Longhorn board is pretty butthurt over this as well. Apparently they have a hard time grasping the fact that Paris is originally Louisiana and instead just making the assumption that UT just sucks that much right now and LSU is obviously paying him.

UCF. My secondary school that I root for. It's where I go to school. Paris was on an unofficial here last week. We haven't ever gotten a 5 star before. Hell, we rarely ever get 4 stars.

Congrats to LSU on the early commit. So now let's divide the top recruits between LSU and A&M and leave the Longhorns the scraps.

But I thought LSU was going to be locked out of Texas with A&M in the league now?
It must really kill them that we're gonna nab the best player in the state and three of the top four or five corners in the state.

you can tell because they say they are losing Paris because he is associated with a handler. Since then they have hired Larry Porter, who is the king of paying handlers.

Paris is a great pickup for LSU without question and I don't think A&M ever had a shot. He is from LA so he is going home. Katrina put a bunch of LA kids in Texas and they want to go back where much of their family and friends are from. That's not exactly a statement on how LSU is getting traction in Texas.
Tony Brown isn't much different, he lives about 30 miles from the Louisiana border. That is still Texas and if you get him that's great for you but the Golden Triangle area is really the only part of Texas that is equally distant from BR and College Station (with BR being a straight shot down the Interstate).
Hardeman is a more solid "get" from Texas. I don't think he had any LA ties.
It's foolish to think LSU is "shut out" of Texas but I do think the rise of A&M has affected their ability to cherry pick. RSJ and Parker were good examples from last year. I think A&M will get as many kids out of LA as LSU gets out of Texas though in the end. It's natural especially for the 350 or so mile stretch between the schools is going to be a battleground going forward more than ever for many reasons. It is also valid that whatever happens on the field this Fall could swing prospects from one side to another. That annual game between the schools is growing in importance all the time.
As for Paris, he is an exceptional talent and deserving of his attention. Anyone saying he isn't an elite prospect is foolish, though like all athletes he has flaws. Is he truly the BEST prospect in Texas? Hard to say. I'm absolutely thrilled with Hoza Scott, he's an absolute freak. Without question though Paris, Brown, and Scott are all Top 5 players in Texas though.

disagree, kids do not choose a college because of who wins or losses a specific game.

you make a point to say your guy is #1 out of the blue, then when you find out a different future LSU guy is #1 then the difference between 1 and 2 is no big deal. lol

meh. Same stuff happened with some Texas kids in the past, see Archie McDaniel.

with mutual offers? no

Yeah, it's not like A&M will get John David Crow or Billy Cannon Jr or Bucky Richardson. Sorry but if you base your thoughts on what will happen in the next few years is only impacted by this last decade that was the best ever for LSU and the worst in the modern era for A&M you are in for a shock. A&M has always been able to pull kids out of Louisiana when we are good.
It's also hard to judge sometimes how much a school wants a player even based on an offer. Texas under MB is famous for not offering kids that they didn't think they could get so they could pull the "we didn't offer" card. I'll put it to you this way. A&M will get at least as many Top 20 kids in LA as LSU gets of the Top 20 in Texas over time. Last year A&M got Ellis and Claiborne, LSU got no one from Texas. This year LSU is off to a strong start in Texas but A&M is also in on several LA prospects.
Continue to underestimate A&M if you wish though, Texas and OU did.

Are you claiming that LSU didn't offer Claiborne and Ellis because we didn't think we could get them?

do you need any semantics cleared up on Ellis or Claiborne? No offer in any way ever.

I think you need to focus on not over-estimating having one good season and thinking the world revolves around you now. Sumlin will be in the NFL within 3 years and Johnny Football will be gone before that and you'll be back to the team that nobody notices.
Posted on 2/28/13 at 5:02 pm to Maximus
Yes, you are right. We will always suck in spite of all our money and resources and being the only SEC team in Texas. LSU also will always be the greatest team ever because they had a great decade after winning a half dozen SEC Titles over the previous 70 or so years. No LA kid ever goes OOS if LSU offers either, it just can't happen.
Thanks for clearing that up guys. It's good to know that all those years where we dominated recruiting in both states and beat LSU consistently on the field can never happen again since you say so. LSU is an invincible machine that can never be beaten or lose a recruit. Got it. Good to know Sumlin is going as well, I mean we kept Sherrill and Slocum when the NFL and everyone else came calling but those days are gone now. Well it was fun while it lasted.
