Probably the best staff, but I'd say the best individual recruiter is Frank Wilson.

Meh not many with as much hype and promise as LF has even now and he's got another year of HS to go

I'd have to disagree if he was he'd be on Bama's staff
I keed
He's pretty good got a lot of connections in a hotbed area, but so is Kirby

Glad we could help get him a raise 2 years ago...I really like Grantham, but man I was butthurt at the time when Bama gave him a raise and we didn't get him.
"Coach in waiting at Bama".....?
Posted on 4/30/13 at 10:11 am to BuccWildBammer
Yeah, I sometimes wonder how he'd do with OOS guys, but he primarily targets the NOLA folks and other LA guys. Kirby is also great.

I don't think in Bama's case it's ever fair to say "coach in waiting" simply because no one knows how much longer Saban is gonna be there, he may be there just 2-3 more yrs then retire or he may be there 6-7 if he feels he can still coach at a high level so no one knows the answer to that
It is weird however that Lance Thompson (a guy Saban had reportedly burned all bridges with but is a close friend of Kirby's) ends up back on staff at Bama and Kirby has come close to going elsewhere, but something always pulls him back almost like in the back of his mind he is anticipating the situation of becoming Bama's HC
I will say though if UGA ever gets rid of Richt all bets are off on him sticking around because I think he'd take that job in a heartbeat if it came open

Ok, you got me. Everything Bama is better than everything anywhere else.

I would be overjoyed if Kirby would leave if it meant no more hearing people say CIW.

Racean Thomas - Best name for running back this class.

Do you honestly think bama would go to Kirby without him having prior head coaching experience?
Posted on 5/2/13 at 8:32 am to 167back
I think that Saban would likely suggest to new AD (forgot his name lol) that he wants Kirby to be his replacement if he was still on staff and then the new AD would have to make up his mind, but it wouldn't shock me in the least if the situation occurred and Kirby quickly became Bama's HC and Lance was promoted to the DC (Kirby knows him like the back of his hand and trusts him) and I think that would be the best way to keep continuity on staff.
I think the fact that Kirby has been coaching as an assistant HC and handled A TON of the duties of HC for Saban the last few yrs will make him a great HC whether its at Bama or elsewhere so I don't have any doubts that if Saban called it quits KS would be the guy.

If I were Alabama I'd go for a bigger name. Once Saban retires they'd probably have their pick of coaches (excluding guys like Miles, Meyer, etc who are at equivalent jobs). It's great to have continuity, but y'all can afford to get someone with more credibility.
If I were Kirby, unless I knew for a fact I was CIW, I'd hop to a good BCS school and try to build up enough credibility to be hired from that school instead of from within.

We'll also have former 4-star RB Braylon Heard transferring in from Nebraska and will have two seasons starting in 2014.

Varshaun Nixon A&M
That's pretty strong.
I doubt SC is going to sign a RB in the 2014 class. We're already loaded, none of them are even Juniors much less Seniors, plus we just signed Jamari Smith and David Williams in the 2013 class, and we're going to have limited numbers to give, like 15-17, for the 2014 class.
But yeah, that's a helluva list of SEC RB prospects for the 2014 class.

Haters gonna hate. You'll grow out of it one day when you get into your late twenties probably.
