We’re getting excited for the experience. Generally we’re staying the night before in each town…and that should be the fun part. Researching famous restaurants in each town, getting to see the fandom…staying close to campus’.

We’re going to get vastly different treatments…from who-the-frick-are-you to warm welcomes and private visits.

Once in a lifetime, super bizarre…3+ weeks of cruising the south.

(Update)

So, nutty times since my last post. Son went to National Underclassmen Challenge in Gatlinburg and charted tops in his class and won the class competition. Retained the #1 national ranking.

Picked up offer from Ole Miss before the season started:
https://247sports.com/college/ole-miss/article/ole-miss-extends-offer-to-2025-magnolia-state-kicker-evan-noel--211912785/

Also got offered from Arkansas…super cool conversations with the staff.

So, we planned Fall visits…Florida, Ole Miss, and Arkansas to finish it.

Florida was super cool. Love the Swamp, they were very very nice to Ev. Basically sat on the field behind this endzone.

Next was a game day visit to Ole Miss, Thought the Grove was fun for sure...

Recruiting seats are usually pretty low, stadium was loud AF with piped in music.

I wasn't really sure if he got the best look at the culture of Ole Miss, since the recruiting trip took up most of the day...so I bought him some tickets to another game and he went up with friends. They got the full experience this time.

I think he enjoyed it.

But really, no one has recruited him like Arkansas. This is, funny enough, one day of cards from them:

So we went up last weekend for the game and, although a tough loss to Ms State, had a great time with the staff. Coach Fountain is special team wizard. Ev got to hang with Cam Little after the game.

Coach Fountain will be at his game tonight, so he'll get to put him through a full warm up...just them two. Away in Foxworth MS tonight. Crazy that a district game is hour and 45 minutes away.

Ugh. Anyway, that's the update. Boy can relax a bit...committed before the playoffs in his Jr year is nice. Who knows what will happen with Arkansas coaches, and Cam might go pro after this season...but my son felt strongly about committing to coach Fountain, so that's what happened. I was leaning Ole Miss...but I don't have to kick footballs, so it's not my choice.

How else should walk-on kickers be treated?

I get you're excited about this, and there's no reason not to be, but don't make it something your kid looks back on negatively. Just remember this a result of his hard work and talent, not yours.

Low key is best. I think he’ll still be able to pick up on the unique charm of each college town.

He shouldn’t have to walk-on.

We’re going to try and make it the best experience possible…despite the pressure.

Disregard any negative waves on here. Your son has bigger balls than those that sit back and talk about "glory days".
As one that raised 3 boys enjoy the time with your son and help him always follow his heart.
Keep us informed. If you come to middle Georgia area let's us know.
Best of luck to the young man!

Auburn should be an interesting one. It’s a straight camp visit, not a private one like a few others, but they absolutely know who my son is and I know he’s on their board…albeit not their current #1. If he could choose one camp to have his best showing at…I think it would be AU.

They were SUPER nice at UGA, though their need for my son is at the bottom of the visits likely.

He was kicking and one of the analyst told him, “the big man” is watching you. About 10 minutes later Kirby comes out and talks to him and his top ranked friend one year younger…watched them kick a few balls and chatted them up. Definitely made his week.

Extensive facilities and campus tours were great…Class act all around.

Good luck to y’all! A friends son OL 6-4 315 lbs is going to 3 camps in almost as many days. It’s a heck of a thing to watch.

And he’s considered “undersized”. That is amazing to me.

After Georgia was the Ole Miss and Florida week…nuts. Both cool, only Florida offered tours and pics. Oxford is bigger than I thought, Gainesville much nicer than I gave it credit. Auburn…well frick them. Arkansas was far. Pretty dreamy up in hills and trees. Tours and pics there as well.

Facilities would rank exactly how you’d think. Florida was sneaky nice.

Coaching staffs were for the most part very engaging and complementary. Every visit has a bit of apprehension right before, but it was fun to brave as a family. Boy kicked the ball extremely well.

From the 247 link you provided:
Noel has great command of his ball striking and this earned him the #1 ranking in the country.

Very impressive. He'll definitely be one to watch n the 2025 class. I know you are proud, as you should be.

Dude. Right now he is the #1 rated kicker for 2025. He won't be walking on.

You've never had a son perform at a high level, have you? The parents spend untold hours and dollars taking them to clinics, practices, etc. Yes, the kid has the talent, but most kids could not be developed if not for the time and efforts the parent puts into it as well.

Take a chill pill and congratulate the kid and the parent. This is big for both of them.

He’s got work to put in, but he’ll gain weight…6’2” and a smooth swing gets him where he is.
