Either saban is recruiting the best players or he's the greatest in game coach and developer of all time. Y'all can't have it both ways to fit the narrative you want in t particular thread. I can promise you that Mike Farrell and Barton Simmons aren't better at identifying talent than Nick Saban. I know it. They know it, so why do you and your fanbase refuse to believe it? I think Nick has earned the benefit of the doubt, no shite a kid is going to get a bump from "not rated" if he just got the green light to commit to the most dominant dynasty in the history of the sport. You see a kid ranked low early and think he isn't a great football player. Will Anderson was out of the top 300 at this point in his recruitment, ended up #3 overall, and lead the SEC in sacks as freshman. Saban is better at identifying these guys than any slapdick working for a recruiting website.

This is the major point. Recruit ranking sites are for fans. Saban is not anxiously awaiting Rivals 2023 Top Whatever. Top coaches use all sources to scout and identify talent.
The Bama bump isn't to help Bama win a recruiting title. It is the Saban bump because the pay sites trust Saban's evaluations and they don't want to be behind the power curve on a player they missed who didn't emerge broadly for lack of using a recruiting service or attending a lot of camps to promote themselves.
Plus, when looking for the right character and quality players for a program, it is the under recruited that are typically more humble but play with something to prove.
Also, good on Bob for jumping on the boat early, as spots close quickly now with early signing periods. When the first call after Arky St is Bama, you know that conversation was quick:

This is an honest question....how have they said "Look at me, look at me!"? I mean, they announced a signing and then discussed it. I was (and I think others were, too) curious about the reasoning Alabama would sin an unrated kid, just as i would be if LSU had signed one.
Most fan bases that come here do the exact same thing.
I find it more curious to see LSU fans trumpet a signing, then drag a kids name through the dirt when he announces a transfer, then welcome him back with open arms when it appears he will return to baton Rouge, then finally go back to dragging his name through the mud when he decides to definitely leave, as y'all did with Arik Gilbert.
