Heard about this kid through the grapevine while looking around at stuff about DeRunnya Wilson. Freshman from Madison Academy put up 23 PPG, 8 RPG, and 2 APG. If I remember right(I went to high school in Huntsville) Madison's only 3 or 4A, so maybe not the best competition but that is outstanding regardless. Seems to be Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee and MSU have all offered him already and I was wondering if any of y'all knew where he might be leaning or if he/madison academy have a history with any particular school

Why is State always trying to poach the little bit of basketball talent that we have in Alabama . . . Back the Frick Off

Its about the only place that Rick Ray's assistants know. We have gotten about 4 Alabama kids the past 2 years. Roquez Johnson, Craig Sword, Travis Daniels, DeRunnya Wilson,

WTF are you talking about Bundy? Rocquez was a freshman when Ray was hired, Sword had signed his LOI before Ray was hired, and DeRunnya only came because of football. The only one of those kids Ray recruited was Daniels.
Chill out homie. I just saw this was a potential top 10 we had gotten on early and I was wondering if I could get my hopes up. I'm hoping we get on him early because I'm sure if he keeps this up Duke, Kentucky and the other CBB bluebloods will be on him before long.
ETA: Before you hound me on the DeRunnya comment, Ray only took him in because he was on the football team and would have been a walkon. Kid was not recruited by Ray.

Haha, this one still bothers me. I dont blame State as much as the Alabama schools (UAB included) not evaluating talent fully.
Wathcing Christian Watford at Indiana bothered me and I think DeRunnya could be this type of player. Not a star but a solid contributor for at least 3-4 years.

Don't be surprised to see him at UK or a higher stature school than Bama, MSU, or AU

If he goes to any school like Bama, MSU, or AU it will be Bama and that's just to try and help turn the program into something. Kid is big as hell and will be a SG with SF size. He would start on Bamas team right now. He is that good.

BAMA locking up high school freshmen in basketball now

We have no shot. We've already pissed off his AAU coach and his cousin was processed by our current coaching staff last year.

Huntsville basketball is legit. Even when I was a kid playing YMCA ball the teams from Huntsville always won the state tournaments. Huntsville is to basketball what the Bay Area is to football in this state. Montgomery and Birmingham turn out a few studs every now and then but Huntsville consistently has great teams

Watford is 5 times the bball player Wilson is.

Yea how the hell you compare Wilson to Watford doesn't add up at all. Anyway growing up in Huntsville there is always great ball players. Especially from the inner city. Most just end up getting involved in drugs and all that though. No guidance.

I want to say he's said that Duke was his favorite. But then again, every kid loves Duke, UK, and UNC. I also think he really likes Bama and Tennessee.

He was quoted as saying Duke has always been his favorite college team. He'll be a top 5 player in the 2016. Like someone already said he's big as hell for his age and has point guard handles and moves. Probably a SG, but he could play any wing position. He could start on Bama's team this coming year, which is saying something for a perimeter oriented team. He should have won Mr. Basketball this year, but DeRunnya got the nod because he was a senior. Personally don't think AU nor State has a chance, and Alabama's chances aren't particularly great, but if he goes to a non-basketball school though, I think it'll probably be Alabama. I see him going to a big basketball school.
