Final update (minus Connerly)

Seeing the other thread on who will get the #1 Class I thought this might be interesting, who ever closes on these guys will get the nod with Bama and UGA having an edge going in. Not counting potential flips, here are the 5 Stars still on the board:

Evan Stewart-A&M-A&M
Domani Jackson-BamaUSC
Shemar Stewart-A&M A&M
Harold Perkins-A&M LSU
Devon Campbell-OU Texas
Denver Harris-Bama A&M
Jaheim Singletary-UGA-UGA
Josh Conerly-Michigan
Kamari Wilson-UGA-Florida
Omari Abor-OU Ohio State
Jacoby Matthews-A&M A&M
Kevin Coleman-USC JSU

For A&M to get the #1 Class I think they need to pull the trifecta of Stewart, Stewart, and Perkins. My confidence is highest with Shemar Stewart of those 3 but I think A&M is at least a slight leader with the other 2. Matthews would be a monster get as it would be a real dagger to LSU for A&M to get 2 of the Top 5 our of Louisiana with Moss. I don't like Evan Stewart visiting Bama this week but that's the game. Perkins has been very tough to read. I also think the Ags have a real shot at Abor but he's hard to read as well.

I do think there will be flips as well but those are harder to speculate on.

Shemar is highly likely.

We also really need to get Harold Perkins. In fact from a needs perspective, I would think he is the most important non-commit left for our program.

But then I could argue Evan Stewart is a big need.

Either way. Agreed. We should land at least 3 more 5-stars. Two is worse-case IMO.

If Bama ends with little, Harris, Jackson and shemar James with room to still take 4 more or so you will have no shot at either number 1 or a higher per recruit average. There's already a huge gap in the second one to begin with.

Bammer will close with at least 2 more 5* but likely 3 more 5*.

Plus 3-4 more high rated 4*'s

Sure they can. Stewart, Stewart, and Perkins are all .993 and above. Add in Matthews and that's 6 5 Stars with 4 in the Top 11. You also have Enai White that is a borderline 5 Star and A&M lean and Anthony Lucas that is an A&M lean and Kam Dewberry that is an A&M lean. That's without the longer shots like a Banks or Goodwin flip or Abor.

Is that going to happen? Probably not, but it is definitely possible. A&M could easily end up with 6 5 Stars and more than 12 in the Top 100. Bama has an amazing class but right now your top commit is Alexander at #17. You have to close.

I could easily see Evan Stewart being the lynchpin. If he goes Bama or A&M that's probably the difference in the ranking. That said all of this is pretty meaningless, all 3 of Bama, UGA, and A&M are dominating and no one really knows who is the #20 player vs the #100 as to how that translates on the field. OU is also looking like a really nice class, especially with a strong close.

One other thing that's a little surprising to me is Ohio State seems to be finishing out of the running on the remaining big targets.

Do not count the Dawgs out with Evan Stewart. Apparently he and Julio Humphrey are pretty close.

Shemar Stewart to A&M but not sure about the rest.

Abor has been all over the place and seems to not get the hard sell from any of the programs with each program being "flavor of the month" after he visits them and raves about them. I've heard he is seen as a "looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane". Not a big loss if A&M doesn't get him, considering the talent already on campus, in the class, and others we're in for.

I'd much rather A&M try to get back in on Kelvin Banks... need a starting LT, the transfer from Tenn is not going to cut it. Plus it would be a much bigger dagger to the program in Austin than getting Mathews out of Louisiana.

I don't count out anything when it comes to 5 Stars. These are all 17/18 year olds being treated as Gods and being offered the world. Any of them can wake up on a given day and decide they just like Bulldogs more than Collies and decide they want to change their mind. I've got an 18 year old Senior myself and even though he is a really good kid that is pretty mature I still marvel at how his thought process works at times. I can't imagine what it is like for these recruits.

Dawgs stand to land the following down the stretch:

5* S Kamari Wilson
5* CB Jaheim Singletary
4* DL Christen Miller
4* LB Shemar James
4* OG Earnest Greene
4* DL Hero Kanu
3* DL Shone Washington (maybe)

We are playing footsy with Evan Stewart at the moment. At one point he was a silent commit to us but had a falling out with our WR coach and hasn’t been back since. Julian Humphrey is close with him, though, and has reinvigorated a possible OV after the SECCG and before ESD

Johnson has no eligibility left anyway, he was a graduate transfer as a senior.

Should be interesting. Some of our folks who are in the know feel very good about James ending up in Tuscaloosa.

Looks like a small class this year. A quality over quantity class. They have a 4* QB from California visiting that many believe will commit this weekend.

I don’t know anything about the others but Kevin Coleman seems like a very heavy Oregon lean at the moment

Yes, because you may not have room for the #3 Player and #1 WR in the country.

Denver Harris is coming to the A&M game tomorrow after it seemed like the Ags were out of it. Interesting.

Indeed it looks like Denver Harris is supposed to be visiting A&M this weekend. I’ll celebrate if he actually makes the trip, since he hasn’t before. It looks like he may want to stay in state, and TX isn’t really that appealing anymore

We will see. Would still call the kid to Bama if making the pick today.
