I know Anthony Grant was recruiting him pretty hard, but he came up short.

It's LSU 3rd top 100 commit in this class.

LSU will soon be stacked
SEC will soon be fricked

Tiger fans are starting to stir on basketball. The rest of the SEC should be scared.

If you wanna see what a good coach can do when he has a program with tradition look at what Saban has done at Bama. LSU may not have quite that much history, but most people here will agree that LSU historically has a pretty impressive track record.

Jones has accumulated a class now ranked #4 in very little time. The achievement is very impressive and it does look like it could mean better recruits in the future.

Martin said that he looked at the current recruiting class and thought that that kind of talent could vault him to the next level. That will build on itself.

If it's not your third top 10 commit . . . well, you're everyone but Kentucky.

He lives in baton rouge...kinda expected, like lsu more than likely wouldn't pick up a guy from tuscaloosa.

Hiring Robert Kirby was the best move JJ ever made. Kirby is a GREAT recruiter

Guarantee you he would not be here if Trent Johnson were still coaching here. This kid had plenty of other offers to consider, he is a 5-star.

We've had plenty of close talent leave us recently.

- Ricardo Gathers signed with Baylor over us for this upcoming season
- Markel Brown AND Brian Williams went to Oklahoma State over us in 2010
- Langston Galloway went to friggin St. Joe's over us in 2010

Trent Johnson was a shitty in-state recruiter

I don't think anyone expected it. At least, they didn't 6 months ago. We always had a chance but the primary factor in his decision making was our new coaching staff.

LSU hasn't had much luck with the top in-state guys (we lost out on 2 of the top 3 last year), so to keep an elite guy is big.

You start a thread to crow about landing a top prospect and your first line is about Alabama and Anthony Grant. Then you're shocked someone had a negative response to said thread?

Was he shocked in another thread? Sure, his post could have included equal showing among the school that were after Martin, but Alabama was a major player for him.

Nothing to be ashamed of though, he turned down some big schools and chose LSU.

Bama fans were on the LSU recruiting board discussing this kid a few months ago. He was rumored to have Alabama in his top 3 awhile back.

About what? I don't even follow basketball recruiting. I'm just amused your first sentence in the OP is about Alabama.

I'm amused that your amused a thread was started about a 5 star commit when sec schools were heavily involved. If you didn't know anything about the recruitment why bother posting? UA was a player in his recruitment
