Just asking, just going of 247 and Rivals. Seems y'all do have a chubby for Casher. What y'all think about Thornton...idk...haven't read y'all think about him at all.

Dameyune got to FSU in 2010. I'll look tomorrow but show me his Mobile recruits over the last 3 years vs Bama

The only player he's recruited and signed from the Mobile area Bama wanted was Chris Casher (who didn't like Bama's defensive scheme).

Not the AU commit

Wasn't attracted to the whole "Jack LB" role

I meant that Auburn landing three players from Mobile recently hasn't just changed things over night in Mobile.

The top four recruits in Mobile ate commited to us. It might only be a quarter way through but that's still damn impressive. The times are changing.

I agree...We all knew Craig would make a difference in recruiting. Im just glad he wasnt there for you guys to get Winston even tho I think the baseball angle of FSU was the larger reaon tho. The guy is good at what he does.

Craig is good in Mobile but Lance Thompson isn't to shabby in South Al either. He has 2 5*'s and 3 4*'s from Mobile in recent years and landed Julio/Lester from Foley. Those two are gonna have some good recruiting battles down the road.

Connections that lead to programs having whoever they want from an area take years to develop. Either that or they have a coach or a couple of coaches that just have great ability when it comes to recruiting and already established connections that can come in and change the guard overnight.

We hired several high school coaches after Malzahn came on as part of the football "support staff." One was Brent Dearmon who coached in Mobile at BC Rain and Vigor in the past few years. He's really young(28), but still a great connection in the area, and surely has helped so far down there.

Because Foley cheats for Bama. I know this for a fricking fact. But of course, Bama fans will spin it.

I don't really following 'crooting closely, so TTFWIIW.

DC coming onboard just means more of the same. Kids are going to say things like "he is like a father to me" and commit during church services and other stuff that is Trooper'esque. He'll have a footprint in lower Alabama because of who he is....but to say times are changing is a little premature, if you ask me.

Sure, UA was in on the Williams kid...but at this point, is LB a position to gloat over in relation to "stealing" one from UA?

UA has a kid from Mobile under center who is going for his 3rd natty in a row this year. They have sent a shite ton of kids to the league. Smart/Thompson/Saban are on staff. It is also a full season away from kids signing on the dotted line. Remember that at this time last year, a supposed UA lock committed to AU by moving there and getting ink...

With that said, congrats on the pickup AU fans.

So one kid commits at his church and now Craig is "Trooper-esque?" That's a pretty ridiculous assumption.

Anyway, he's well known in Mobile and will have a good bit of success. Will he dominate Mobile? Probably not, but I don't think it's too much of a stretch to say that Auburn will start getting much more out of Mobile than they have in the past 5 or so years. There's no reason to assume that we'll get everyone out of Mobile just because we've gotten a couple guys so quickly, but I think it does show that we're going to have much more of a presence there now.

And that's not just due to Craig only, but it will help that we have that "support staff" of multiple former high school coaches around the state. It's what Saban has been doing for years and Chizik never caught on. Gus got the green light and has made some hires which will really help with the connections in not only areas we have been successful, but especially areas we haven't been, specifically the Mobile area.
