Zachary Evans 247
#1 Player in the country for 2020 and #1 RB.

Looks like it's down to LSU, Bama, Georgia, Oklahoma, and Ohio State. He had crystal balls to Texas, Texas A&M, and Oklahoma State before.

I think Texas and A&M are still very much in the hunt here despite his post.

A&M hasn't been in the hunt for Evans since last year ... the surprise is how Texas appears to have fallen out of favor as well. I'm sure the sip sites are doing damage control as we speak.

He's staying in state. He wants a cut of that oil money before he signs

Would happily give up Milton and Evans to guarantee Robinson to OSU. Love his game in OSUs scheme

re: 2020 5* RB Zachary Evans top 5
His comments sound kind of dumb. Said he wants to go to a school competing for titles then said Texas beat UGA (and OU btw last year) but what about Bama or Clemson. What does that even mean

quote:

“It’s just … you don’t know how to put it,” Evans told 247Sports as a part of a wide-ranging interview. “I don’t want to be disrespectful. I ain’t saying (Texas) can’t win a natty. It’s just at the moment [Texas is] not quite there. You beat Georgia but you barely beat Georgia. What about when it comes to a Bama or go to a Clemson?

WHAT?

Texas is being divided up without a Texas school having any say.

He's saying what most here say - UGA is much better positioned than many to win a MNC. I could easily see him at UGA, Bama, or Clemson. All of which put backs in the NFL, and have the talent to compete for the big one

Texas just isn't there, and neither are any other in-state schools.

Texas beat 2 of his top 5 last season. What if they beat LSU and OU this year? They are in an easier conference to make a run. LSU hasn’t been competitive for national titles in 5 years

Texas is screwing themselves.

Ultimately recruiting rankings don't mean as much as some think.
The difference between Zach Evans and 10-15 other RBs is small.
Truthfully the difference is OLine play.

Texas is not putting players in the NFL. But no high school players should think they deserve the NFL. The ones who do usually aren't the ones who perform in the NFL.

IF they were to do so, he might reconsider. However, Herman just doesn't use the RB that much. OU has a great offense, and has been in the playoffs a bit. Never actually won a game, but it is all about the message. LSU has significantly more talent than Texas, but the game is in Austin.

LSU puts RB's in the NFL, and always has ton of talent
OSU, the same
UGA may just have the most young talent out there
Bama, is Bama
OU has a great offense

I'd agree with all of those except OU, but Riley appears to be a great salesman

I totally get why he picked his 5 but his comments don’t seem to match that. All I was saying

And there it is. Your brothers on OB and 247 disagree with you

They should have known.

All the writing was on the wall.
Especially when these recruiting experts made the claim that Evans was Texas' Waterloo.

RBs no longer are the wheel that drives the engine.
Haven't been for awhile.

re: 2020 5* RB Zachary Evans top 5
Zach Evans is a special talent, and he's much better than most other RB's this year. However, as much as it pains me to say it the OL is much more important in the end. I HATE agreeing with a damned sip

I expect it to be Bama, personally

His 40 and shuttle don't blow you away.
What I like about Evans is his vision and ability to change speeds.

But the difference between Evans and McClellan isn't as great as most think.
McClellan is a blend of power and speed that most RBs don't have.

I see UGA or Bama.

Our depth chart looks a smidge better. Our OL recruiting may give UGA the edge, but I expect it to go to the bitter end.
