This is all that they focus on. Nothing but race baiting communists. Don't mention how talented the guy is and how he should be successful for them. Cancel him right off the bat because of a stupid song.

Sark already stepped in it...he should have known this was a loaded question.

Some of these I kinda understand, but this isn't one of them. It was first played in public by some people in blackface a really long time ago. That much seems to be objectively true. The question then is was it written for the purpose of mocking or belittling black people? Nothing in the lyrics suggests that, so I really do not see what the big deal is.

Meanwhile you have Clemson whistling past the graveyard.

Exactly - same boat here. Some songs truly were written as being racist. I get that, even if now it isn't thought of that way.

This song........wasn't? The only part of it associated with racism was the person singing it wore blackface? They stopped doing that.....so.......

They wore blackface in plays on Broadway for years. Do we cancel shows in those theatres? I just truly don't know what level of association we've decided is ok or not ok. Maybe somebody will teach me.

I don't think there is a definitive line. It all rests with how the writer or Twitterer can twist reality into something incendiary. If it takes off via the internet then it becomes something that changes what we do. This country is doomed!

Newt Gingrich had a similar type question asked to him during a debate. Here’s how you roast the questioner.

So this makes the song racist because students once performed it in blackface? That’s absurd

I like how they are more worried about a song than about other issues from his past. Ah, the media today.

Good answer. The AD somewhat put that to rest during the season, but knowing Austin, it will never completely go away.

The band refusing to play it is a bigger issue currently

I'm old enough to remember when a football coach was a glorified PE teacher and not the moral authority on all things. Why in the hell are they asking him that garbage?

Sure he knew. He started it. Sark just wanted to grab the situation by the horns. And no one in horneyville is unhappy with a word he spoke. And those are the folks that matter.

At 7:30 this morning I posted the liberal self entitled arrogant Texas fan base would mire Sark in the cesspool. I gave it 18 months...looks like I was off by 17 months and 28 days. He’s already in deep shiiite and hasn’t been there a week.

Lol, this "take". Very glad you were thinking about us at 7:30 this morning. You probably went to sleep thinking about us too after a season long, well really a lifetime long, of singing about us

It's so much easier to talk about "the eyes of texas" than it is to talk about issues that actually affect peoples lives (drug crisis, stagnating wages, etc..).

But champagne socialists have always been a thing.

Lol..no one gives y’all a second thought...y’all are truly legends in your own mind. Only time any one “thinks” of you is when y’all troll others trying to act relevant. The fact is Texas has become an ultra liberal institution, and the little socialist snowflakes are destroying a great program with their “woke” views.
