I don't understand why his buy out matters. Pretty sure they could have fired him for insubordination.

because that provision has qualifying language that would have made it very difficult for them to fire him and also be 100% confident they would prevail in a wrongful termination lawsuit.

I'm curious why the decision was made on a Sunday night after meeting on Friday when it looked like more talk was needed.

I don't think many people expected a decision to be announced immediately after the meeting. They likely heard what Wade had to say and then met separately with the board to discuss the content of that meeting. Remember, Alleva cannot fire Wade without the approval of the BOS.

Perhaps LSU fans are correct and Wade has some boosters/donors on his side.

That's 100% true
quote:

I also don't see the university shite canning the president or AD - like most LSU fans want.

I do, because of the boosters/donors. Alleva is a puppet, always has been. The people with money, as is the case everywhere, are generally the real decision makers in situations like this. If Alleva/Alexander don't have support of the board and the money, then they can easily find themselves on the chopping block.

Not saying it's right or wrong but simply how it is.

If that's the message you've gotten from most* LSU fans, then you are being intentionally obtuse or lack reading comprehension. I haven't seen anyone say this

I have been wondering why is that? Why would feds want to keep Wade from testifying? Obviously Dawkins is the target. So do they think Wade knows something that will free Dawkins?

because Dawkins strategy is to draw sympathy by introducing irrelevant information and the feds don't want that to happen because they want convictions.

Dawkins’ attorney is expected to subpoena Wade as a witness in a trial set to begin April 22, apparently hoping Wade’s testimony could undermine the prosecution’s case by demonstrating university officials were in on the scheme. Prosecutors have portrayed colleges as the victims.

You know he was caught red handed.

In the third grade he spilled an ink well of red ink on his desk and made a mess. Got it all over the desk and all over his hands and clothes. His teacher sent him to the cloak room as punishment. After a while in the dark room he started thinking of Little Sally’s trim and caught a #10 woody. It was hard as Chinese algebra. So he did what we all would do. He whipped it out and went to beating his meat like a wild man.
Just as he shot a monster load across the room on to Mrs Jones coat she opened the door to check on him and damn, he had his dick in his hand.
And he was caught red handed.

Your welcome.

Precisely.

The feds want to put all the heat they call on Dawkins and the other middlemen.

I just find it odd that would want him to testify

This was the statement about keeping coaches out:

quote:

"These statements, along with the defense counsel's proffer that they intend to elicit testimony from the subpoenaed coaches about their involvement in NCAA rule-breaking by paying student-athletes suggests that the defense may resort in this trial to arguments that pose a risk of attempting to garner the sympathy of the jury, and, therefore, would be categorically inappropriate," the government's motion said.

"The defendants are on trial for serious federal crimes, and the defendants should not be able to use this trial as a referendum on the merits of the NCAA's rules or the state of college basketball, in an impermissible effort to garner sympathy with the jury."

The part where Alleva said that the meeting had "satisf[ied] his contractual obligation to LSU," was a bit odd. Not exactly a ringing 'welcome back coach!'

I think the AD knows where this is ultimately going but they can't really do anymore than they've done until/unless the NCAA does something.

Yeah, nowhere in the statement did he say "We believe and fully support Coach Wade."

LSU has very much set the plate so that if anything further develops they've got their legal bases covered. It very much came across as "We are good for now but if we find any evidence that Will didn't tell us about or straight up lied about, he gone."

If they fired Wade right now, Alleva and F. King would need a private army to protect them.

Not really. Nobody knows what the NCAA will actually get that they can use. We're all guessing. Right now, it seems likely they won't have anything to go on because the feds seem to have little inclination to go after the college coaches and none of the people interviewed by the NCAA wants to squeal. That could change. Only time will tell.

Prof, you are reading too much into it. Our AD is a self-preserving kneejerking intellectual midget who can't help but take swipes at anybody who he thinks has gotten the better of him or revealed him as the fool he is. See Alleva's comments after the first round NCAAT win. Took shots at Wade.

Alleva is on his way out, supposedly very soon.
