The reason LSU's quarterback, Joe Burrow might get the most votes of any candidate in the history of the Heisman is that he's having one of the great seasons in all of college football, he's a dual-threat as he displayed against Alabama, and there's no clear no.2 in the voting. It's Joe Burrow then everyone else, noting that Joe is a legit threat to surpass O.J. Simpson's numbers in Heisman voting.

Certainly the Heisman is a very quality award, but Joe will be the first to tell you, he couldn't do it without his teammates and the corches. He would rather a National Championship ring.

He will win but it won't be biggest margin in Heisman history.

If you would've told me 3 years ago that LSU would have a season with a record breaking offense, a Heisman frontrunner Quarterback, and we'd be complaining about our defense after a 10-0 start, I would have wanted some of that black tar heroin you were smoking.

Heisman with an asterisk.

Tua was the favorite of most media sources and vegas odds alike before his injury vs UT

He really excelled at the right time, nobody’s really close to him at this point.

ETA: some salty bama fans in this thread already.

It's the first year in a very long time that there is only one legitimate contender.

Hurts is the only one with comparable or better stats, but OU has a loss. All Burrow has to do is win his last three games. It's almost a sure thing.

Oh so now Bama fans believe in asterisks because of key players being injured

he's a dual-threat

He's white, so by definition he can't be a dual threat QB.

Why were there more Heisman voters in 1968 when OJ won, compared to today? I would think the number would grow. 1200 voters in 1968. Somewhere around 900 now.

Tua gets injured because he can’t get rid of the ball. It’s a flaw in his game that Joe just doesn’t have as the better player. Sorry.

Kyler Murray snuck in the back door last year & took the Heisman from Tua. Burrow was already the leader according to ESPN & several other news outlets even prior to this year's game against Bama. Now is Burrow is running away with it. You salty as frick. First it was with Murray, now Burrow.

updated odds for Heisman Trophy. Tua and Jalen at #1 and #2Posted on 10/17/19 at 2:55 pm to John Milner

quote:
Tua Tagovailoa is once again the betting favorite to win the Heisman Trophy after the Crimson Tide rolled over Texas A&M in Week 7. After consecutive weeks where Joe Burrow and then Jalen Hurts topped the odds table, Tua (+115) is back perched for the second week in a row where he spent most of 2018.

Following Tagovailoa on Bovada’s list of Heisman Trophy odds are Jalen Hurts (+300), Joe Burrow (+300), Justin Fields (+900) and Jonathan Taylor (+1200).

D’Andre Swift (+10000) and Trevor Lawrence (+7000) have fallen way back from contention.

It’s a Quarterback Award
It’s normally a QB who takes home this trophy and although Wisconsin’s Jonathan Taylor is pushing hard from the backfield, it’s the gunslingers who continue to lead the odds.

Of the top five candidates, only one isn’t a quarterback. Further down the oddsboard we see running backs J.K. Dobbins (+7000), Travis Etienne (+9000) and AJ Dillon (+20000).

Alabama’s Jerry Jeudy is the best wide receiver option on the list at +6000.

Here’s a look at the full list:

2019 Heisman Trophy Odds
Player Odds
Tua Tagovailoa +115
Jalen Hurts +300
Joe Burrow +300
Justin Fields +900
Jonathan Taylor +1200
Justin Herbert +6000
Jerry Jeudy +6000
Jake Fromm +7000
J.K. Dobbins +7000
Trevor Lawrence +7000
Travis Etienne +9000
Bo Nix +9000
D’Andre Swift +10000
Sam Ehlinger +10000
Ian Book +10000
Kelly Bryant +10000
Shea Patterson +10000
AJ Dillon +20000

After UGA gets thru with LSU no one will be mentioning Burrow as a Heisman candidate. Just ask Colt Brennan. He knows what we did to him
