“I think this is one of the biggest mistakes in sports media in recent history,” said a veteran of the TV rights space. “You can’t get free agent money without being an actual free agent. Why would the third or fourth most popular postseason sporting event need long-term security? It was a total mistake.”

Why is this guy still at the top of the NCAA? He is absolutely terrible.

He is the main man responsible for Alabama's football success since Coach Saban's arrival into Tuscaloosa

There are plenty of other lowlights, including the equity issues that arose with the NCAA women’s basketball tournament.

What equality issues? Women's basketball isn't exciting until maybe the NCAAW Final 4.

There is such a disparity between the handful of great teams and the others that it isn't exciting to watch, even if you like women's basketball.

18 of the 21 games played so far have had double digit margins of victory.

Correct...They said yesterday that no team outside a 3 seed has ever won the NCAA Women's tournament...Shows very few teams have a shot.

What a Cajun says if looking at the scoreboard is just too painful.

This was supposedly about the difference in accommodations between NCAA Men's tourny teams and NCAA Women's tourny teams.

Do we live in such a clown world that no one wants to see that there is more of a difference between the two NCAA sanctioned championships other than the genders of the competitors?

I hate yahoo but they’re right.

3% increase for an extension to 2032 for March madness?

With all the insane TV contracts being thrown around?

Lost billions of dollars in that frick up.

I lean towards giving Coach Saban most of the credit.

And he's knocking down almost $3 million a year.

It’s likely not a coincidence that after the NCAA tournament television deal was announced, Emmert received a 60% pay bump – from $2.4 million to $3.9 million – in the fiscal year from 2017 to 2018. It’s easy to justify a raise to your bosses when you can show them billions on the way.

Hey op, it says that you are a fairly new poster. You probably don't care but if you wish for your threads to be better received, then quote a little from them and try to never leave a blind link. I suspect you would have a bunch of upvotes because this a good article about a real dumbass.

Here’s the problem with this argument:
You can’t bring in the popularity argument without admitting that college sports are a business, and, if you admit that college sports are a business, then you can no longer justify rules restricting players’ ability to get paid.

Emmert wants to shite on his cake and eat it too. You can’t do that.
TV viewership numbers shouldn’t cause discrepancies in how the NCAA treats MBB and WBB. They are both self-described “amateur student athletic leagues” - are they not?

The second the revenue argument comes in to play, the NCAA and the schools it represents lose a lot of the legal protections they’ve enjoyed.

Emmert and the NCAA can get fricked. They made their bed.
