Census Data

Major Northeastern and Midwestern states continue to lose population as Southern states dominate the census. The South is officially the most desirable region of the country, while the Midwest is the least desirable.

Florida, Texas, Georgia, the Carolinas, and Tennessee led the way.

Good luck to the B10 as its region’s population continues to shrink.

Great. They ruin their states and now they come over here to ruin ours for a fraction of the price.

So the South minus Alabama and Mississippi? Makes sense.

Yes most of the South is gaining population.

Alabama grew faster than most of the nation in 2022

Alabama just added more new people than most states in a surprising growth spurt for the Yellowhammer State.

Over the one-year period from July 1, 2021 to July 1, 2022, according to new estimates released today by the U.S. Census Bureau. That was the largest one-year increase in population the state has seen in over a decade, and the 15th highest in the nation.

New Alabamians represent a 0.5% increase in the state population in just a year, which was the 20th fastest growth rate among states. Alabama was home to 5,074,296 people as of July 1, 2022, according to the new Census estimates.

Although Louisiana and Mississippi is losing population. Most likely due to their receding economy.

I think Alabama was ranked 7th or 8th. Definitely in the top 10.

As a resident of Tennessee I just want to say it is a terrible place to live. Please tell everybody that you see from up north or California this.

Houses are affordable weather isn't trash and you don't have granola motherfrickers yelling in your ear about stupid bullshite

I can see it.

Unfortunately Chinese investors are buying up houses in NYC and causing a trickle down

Alabama could use more Northern transplants

That state is currently a pathetic 3rd world dump

Some Yankees will class that place up and bring it into the 20th century at least

Maybe someday it’ll make it into the 21st century too

It's a lot of Ohio transplants in South Carolina unfortunately. I wish they would stay their arse in their own state.

As a northerner, I can speak to this. Many folk I know desire to or have moved to Florida, Carolinas, and Texas. I’ve considered a move down to Austin or San Antonio or grab a property out in Nashville, but that’s on hold for time being. The south as a whole is a much better place for family as well. Northeast is full of nonsense.

China has purchased A LOT of property, both business and residential in New York. Long Island City is practically owned by Chinese buyers. I work as an engineer on these projects and see it much more nowadays.
