Would you want to be like Oklahoma and lose every year in the playoffs or win a bowl game?

My coworker is a Oklahoma fan and he told me it would be nice to win a playoff game for once hell even Georgia beat us. He said he would rather win the sugar bowl then to make the playoffs to only lose in a blowout. He said the last two years getting the shite kicked out of them by Alabama and LSU was very humbling experience.
Would you rather make the playoffs and lose in a blowout every time or would you rather win a big bowl game?

I feel like most people will say the opposite of what they actually experience, but for me personally, I would much rather beat UCF in the Fiesta Bowl than to have lost 63-28 in the playoffs.

Your co-worker is a dipstick then. A 63-28 blowout loss in a game that decides who goes on to play for a national championship is better than a major bowl win without any national championship implications.
Oklahoma is always a contender. The 1-7 BCSNCG/CFP record is brutal but I’d take it over not having the opportunity to play for it all.
My thinking is, your co-worker celebrates non-BCSNCG/CFP wins over Alabama and Auburn than BCSNCG/CFP losses. That’s pathetic. And I doubt he is a true fan. I’ll take an OU CFP close loss or blowout loss over a meaningless NY6 bowl win any day.

Depends on season. Afer Tua went down I didn't want any part of the playoffs to get skull drug. What I wanted was a nice bowl game hopefully NY6 and a big win over a Penn State type team to help build momentum. I think if we had made the playoffs somehow and either lost the payoff game or NC game it would have been same old same old but instead I feel like there is something to build on for next year. I actually think a big bowl win outside of playoffs would help Oklahoma

Gots to be in it to win it.

This year with tua out, I think bama could have given Oklahoma a decent game. Maybe even keep it within a 10 to 13 point loss.

If LSU wasn’t in it, I’d enjoy seeing any of the little 9 schools play for the SEC Championship. The game is more fun when everyone can go into the season with high hopes that this could be the year for their team.
I would say the same for other conferences as well. Back in the day, schools like Colorado, Washington, Miami and Virginia Tech were championship contenders. It was more fun back then, when more than 8-12 schools were realistically able to win their conference and gain national prominence.
I might be in the minority here, but I fear that fan interest in the sport will dwindle in the coming years if the SEC’s Big 5, Clemson, OSU and Oklahoma continue being the only schools that have a real chance at taking home the hardware.
Somebody else from the SEC or some other conference needs to step up and assert themselves for the overall good of the sport.

Bama with Mac Jones would have beaten Oklahoma by multiple scores. Had Jones had more than one start before they played Auburn they win that game as well, make tre playoff and probably make LSU earn trip to NOLA.
I’m glad they didn’t get in, but if we’re being serious they were a top-6 team. Either Bama, Florida or Georgia IMO had the best shot at winning in the semis and/or the NCG.
Those three, Auburn and Ohio State were every bit as good as Clemson, and all were better than Oklahoma.

‘Yoffs
Bowls are insignificant.
I watched the orange And sugar bowls and it was very sad.

Why would you not want to be in the playoffs Tua or not? Bama made playoff games with Blake Sims and Mccarron and McIlroy. Are you suggesting that making the playoffs does not validate the team and program. Are you suggesting the mighty Bama was highly dependent on one player. Or are you suggesting that if Bama could not clearly win the playoff you don’t want to be in it.. probably the latter.

OU is the 1990's Buffalo Bills of college football. The AFC was really weak and the Bills took advantage. They almost won the first super bowl and then it got worse and worse. The only difference is that the BIG12 isn't getting stronger as the AFC eventually did, so OU may make the playoffs annually for years to come. The best part is every year you could believe this is the year.

It depends. We would’ve been destroyed in the playoffs the past 2 years.

To me it's all about winning. If you make the playoffs then you had a very good season. I'd take my chances with the playoffs every year. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while.
