why are you trying to fault college baseball for having a historical tradition?

Baseball easily....
I just can't bring myself to give one solitary frick about the game of basketball

Hockey is pretty massive in some regions of the country, like college baseball. Suck it.
I love baseball as a sport, but I've never been able to get into college baseball. The aluminum bats and the fact that most of the best players either don't play in college or disappear in the minors for several years after college kill it.

The metal bats part. Also, he may have not been factually correct about the media coverage, but his general point that basketball generates far more media coverage and national interest is correct.

The metal bats have been toned down to the point that any advantage over wooden bats is minimal at best. And why should I let media coverage sway my opinion on my favorite sport?
Sure basketball is more popular but hell soccer is the most popular sport in the world but that doesn't mean I give half a frick about it.

Then why not just use wood? IMO, they should start using wood in high school. I don't care how much they tone them down, at the end of the day metal is still harder than wood and the impact of the ball to bat is less absorbed leading to moon shots.

Baseball almost outdraws basketball in the SEC in attendance.
Sucks you can't get into it, but then again, UF struggles enough getting into basketball when good so baseball has no shot.
With the SEC so bad in basketball this year, it might be even close in attendance. But unlikely, Mizzou brings quite an addition in basketball attendance and will be dead last in baseball by a mile and a half.

Go check and compare stats. The days of gorilla ball are over and it's a goddamn shame....

Too expensive, wood bats are more expensive than BBCOR bats and wood bats shatter on the regular especially with the bad swings a lot of college players take.
Can't afford it at 85% of the schools.

Because this is college baseball not professional. Aluminum bats is as much a part of college baseball as the option play is to college football. The heightened offense the old bats was part of the draw of college baseball for most fans. These bats may be closer to wood than the bats of yesteryear but aluminum is just a part of the game now

And because baseball>basketball at more SEC schools than not.
Vandy, LSU, Arkansas, MSU, OM (at least before this year), A&M, SC are all bigger baseball schools than basketball and it isn't even remotely close.

Hell, I don't even know how much bats go for these days. I haven't played baseball since 2001. I think I had an Omaha 2000 by Louisville Slugger and it cost me around $200.

Smaller schools BBCOR bats are about $99 per bat, bigger schools will get the higher end BBCOR bats ranging from $199-$399 with some cheaper ones too.
Good wood bats are about $100 a piece.

Also, yes, it is "remotely close" between basketball and baseball at Vandy, Arkansas, and MSU. Ole Miss, LSU, A&M, and USCe all definitely care more about baseball. The other three are on the fence.

This x 100. All of the best football players in the world who are 18-20 years old are playing college football. A good number of the best basketball players in the world from that age group are playing college basketball. For baseball, almost all of the best 18-20 year old baseball players in the world are playing minor league baseball. You're going to see a lot more talent on the field watching the Montgomery Biscuits play than the Auburn Tigers. The Birmingham Barons are significantly better than the Alabama Crimson Tide at baseball. If you want to see the best young talent, you won't get it watching college baseball.

Basketball. At this point I would probably trade a guaranteed football NC for just a legit crack at one in basketball (Final Four run).
