Would you like to see college ball go to the NFL down by contact rule?

Where you aren't down until you're touched by the opposing team

Thoughts?

No. Don't even like it in the NFL. If you're too stupid to stay upright, you deserve for the ball to be downed right there.

The defense should have to stop you, that's the point of the game.

Could just as easily say the offense is supposed to move the ball, that's the point of the game

No. On this one, I prefer the college rule.

The pro game is better because it adopted the college 2 point conversion

If anything, I wanna see pro adopt college OT rules and stop the clock on 1st down

I like the college rule. It gives the defenses some help.

No. Imagine all of the additional late hit and unnecessary roughness penalties that will pile up if college changes to the NFL down by contact rule. No thank you.

You can make arguments both ways but the college rule is easier to enforce because the NFL rule introduces an additional variable: did the offensive player actually get touched by a defensive player and: did a part of his body in question come in contact with the turf?

Yes.

I like the idea of a DB who dives to make a great INT being able to get up (if not touched) and be rewarded for a great TO/defensive play with a chance to show off some offensive skills.

Yes.

A big game will end with a player running into the end zone to win the game but he'll trip and fall and they'll lose. Public outrage will ensure. That's when the rule will change.
