Would Vols fare better in the ACC??

Living in Nashville, A lot of my friends of mine are Vols fans. One friend in particular, would be fine with the Vols leaving the SEC to join the ACC. After looking at Clemson's schedule, which is a joke outside of A&M, He is convinced the Vols win 2-3 more games.
Would the Vols actually fare better though? Maybe, but I still see them being a middle of the pack ACC team at best. The Vols already aren't blowing it out of the water when it comes to recruiting, and changing conferences you have to think would negatively affect the quality of recruits the Vols sign. Being in the SEC is a big recruiting advantage.
Here is another point some may or may not agree with. The top of the SEC (Alabama, UGA, LSU, Auburn, Florida, A&M, maybe MS State) as a group, are much better than the top 6 from other conferences. After that, I happen to think its a toss up. The Vols last 5 bowl losses have been to 5 ACC teams. Have not won a bowl game against an ACC team since the Natty (they have won a couple regular season games - I bring the bowls up because my friend used that as a measuring stick - He should have looked at the bowl record though and teams played).Look at UT losing to SC last year, then SC getting demolished by UVA. Assuming UT would beat most ACC teams I think is asinine. So many games would be a coin flip, which I guess is better than auto losses in the SEC? What are y'alls thoughts?
Also, SEC is only 49-40 against ACC this decade. You can see the results of the games in this LINK

I hate the offseason so much

No because even though they stink they still care more about football than anyone in that conference
Now Vandy....
Now Vandy....

Hypothetical of course, but if Vols actually did make a move to the ACC, support would decline.

Miss State over Auburn? Puzzling

Woah, good catch. Auburn definitely in top 6. Had to go re-read the post and edit. Top 6 including Auburn, maybe State as well. Sorry about that.

Would they win more games? Sure any of us would. If they wish to go that route I would wish them well. However, they were a bigger factor than most in building the conference to what it is today and I don't think they should leave just because they have been struggling recently.

Yes because acc is trash outside Clemson

Again, Could i see them winning more? Sure. Could I see them losing about the same? Absolutely. Clemson is an obvious L. FSU and Miami, if they get their acts together. Syracuse would torch the Vols. I could see BC's power running game bulldoze right through them. UVA is an improving team. Va Tech is good enough to beat them. NC State has potential. Im just not sure their win total would be drastically different than if they stayed in SEC.

Yes they would fare better.
They also might find it more difficult to recruit surrounded by SEC schools. In the long run they would have a better shot at rebuilding a national program. They can still do it in the SEC - they did it before. Its going to take the right coach and the administration must be committed.

Worst thing for the Vols right now.. Clemson and UGA being powerhouses. All 3 these schools recruit the same areas. Factor in Alabama being Alabama, Auburn, and the Vols are 5th by a longshot. I'm not one who thinks the Vols will ever be back. I do not see them competing for the East for anytime soon.

Any SEC team would fare better in the ACC.

Tennessee's worst decade in the history of the program...the 2010's. They are 3-1 vs the ACC during this timeframe. Their lone loss was the 2010 Music City Bowl, where extra time was put back on the clock so UNC could kick the game-winning FG.
...so, there's that.

It would be disastrous for support. As a Vol fan in Middle Tennessee, I can go 1/2 hour to watch them play Vandy and 4 hours to Starkville, Tuscaloosa and Athens to catch other roads games. A move to the ACC leaves the shortest "road trip" 4 hours to Atlanta. It would be 7 hours to the NC State's, UNC's and the Duke's of the world. It would be 8 to Blacksburg and 9 to Charlottesville.
And don't get me started on how bad that would be for shooty hoops.

You could put a program like South Carolina in any league, and they'd still be below average to average

South Carolina should have never left the ACC. As much as I dislike them they would be a much better fit in the ACC. If the ACC is as "weak" as most of the SEC people claim, then a school like the dirt peckers would almost certainly be in the CFP hunt annually and at a minimum be in a New Years 6 bowl living the dream. Why would any SEC team that can't win in that league not want to take the "easy" path? I guess being a well paid jobber is more important.

They'd win more games. Fare better? Depends on how you define it.
While we're imagining shite to kill time in the waning days of this long arse offseason. . .
Imagine if we replaced Kentucky, SC, and Vandy with Miami, FSU, and Clemson. As hard as it would be, both schools would get their shite together much quicker. It would create the most exciting conference in CFB history by far and put 2 teams in the CFBP almost every year.
