Would a team of all transfer portal players make the playoff?

I say yes, with the caveat that they get to play in a conference thats not the SEC. I think they would probably win the ACC, Big 12, or Pac 12 next year easily, not sure about the Big 10 since Ohio St should be pretty good.

I have better things to do with my life than put any thought into this dumb topic.

Cincinnati had a lot, didn’t they?

I think it would be pretty difficult. Our best transfers last year didn't really make much of an impact until mid-season.
Unless you're transferring in a ton of players from the same team then you won't have any built-in chemistry or development.

Transfers are a crap shoot.

I think it would too, I don't think they are beating Bama, Georgia, or Ohio St. Maybe not Clemson if they right the ship from last year.
Its mostly a statement on how much talent is in the portal, but I think you could compete with them in weaker conferences

I'm not seeing it. Even if they were all good kids with great talent and attitudes, there's just subtleties within each position group at various programs. Getting all that worked out, along with teaching that school's particular system, to that many kids in one off season ain't going to happen.
Transfers help in spots - Kentucky benefited quite a bit from a few key transfers last year. But I don't think transfers are a cure-all. I sure wouldn't want to coach an offensive line of all transfers, or any other position group.

HS players are just as much as a crap shoot. So many of them never pan out.

Not in the SEC. But in a lesser conference if the program has top of the line development then I think they could win with portal players after a year or so.

Yall about to find out soon enough

Theres a ton of talent in the portal. I don't think you can automatically assume kids who transfer have attitude issues anymore though.

Yeah thats the biggest obstacle. The team would have to have a very favorable schedule in the first half of the year for sure

A team full of players who weren't good enough to beat out players on their previous team...is gonna make the playoffs? I don't see that happening.

Well, it seems we are about to find out this year with the Bayou Bengals

Scenario would never happen so not sure why it's relevant really.
We did see Michigan State take 14 transfers going into 2021 and they went 11-2. This after going 2-5 in covid season and 7-6 the full year prior to that.

Have you seen the type of players that are in the portal?
If your team has a Caleb Williams type player, or Ewers if he is even close to what he should be, you're going to be in contention as long as your coach and the rest of the roster isn't completely awful.
How good is this year's Bama with a league average QB? How good is 2010 Auburn with a league average QB?
Go down the list of players in the portal and tell me how far you go down until you find ones won't be starters this upcoming year. Kids are transferring because they just don't like their situation, theres a logjam at a position, or their coach changed. Its not just that they weren't good enough anymore.

I mean its the offseason and a hypothetical

What has Ewers done to this point other than being a hyped up name? I get there are other reasons to be in the portal, a large percentage are due to not better than the guy ahead of them.
