Alabama: "Part of a 2017 United Nations study on poverty and human rights abuses in America determined that rural Alabama is home to the worst poverty in the developed world."
Arkansas: "Per Forbes, Arkansas has the lowest percentage of graduate degree holders in 2018, compared to any other state."
Florida: "Drug overdoses are common." "In 2016, nearly 1,700 people died of opioid overdoses in South Florida alone."
Georgia: "According to a study from the American Transportation Research Institute, the country's worst traffic bottleneck for trucks is in Atlanta, Georgia."
Kentucky: "In their 2018 study, Wallethub designated Kentucky as the worst state in the nation in which to retire."
Louisiana: "Of all the 50 states, Louisiana is the one with the worst diet, according to a 2018 report released by 24/7 Wall Street. Their research demonstrates that only 69% of Louisiana adults reported eating vegetables at least once a day, which is well below the national share of 77.9%; additionally, the state leads the nation in obesity ratings of 36.2%."
Mississippi: "The U.S. News and World Report ranked Mississippi the worst state for health care in its annual review of the best states in the country in 2018."
Missouri: "US Tornadoes reports that Missouri is one of the top 10 states with the highest frequency of tornadoes."
South Carolina: "South Carolina was almost rock bottom in a WalletHub study regarding each state's elder abuse laws. It was number 50 of 51 (the study included DC)."
Tennessee: "Tennessee has the lowest amount of dentists per capita, and one of the highest percentages of elderly residents with no natural teeth, according to a 2018 Wallethub study. It's near the bottom of the list for overall dental health."

I disagree. I married a Louisiana girl because she could cook so well.
My youngest daughter ate nothing but etouffee for seemingly a month one time.

No one is disagreeing that the food tastes great. They're referring to the unhealthy cost that comes along with it.

Too many fried foods, empty carbs and the bad kind of fats.

Who am I to argue with US News & World Report, but I can think of many things worse about my home state

Well I have some classes towards 2 grad degrees but quit them both so I'm just another loser.
But anyway, I think I can handle that being the worst thing.

These people know nothing about good food. Louisiana wins hands down.

I'm actually allergic to Ohioans

This is a fricking crime.

The sad part is that in a bunch of those categories all the other SEC states are rounding out the top 5-10

Guy has way to much time on his hands. I could do a better article without any sort of research by just using shite off the top of my head that's common knowledge. Let's see.
Tennessee: highest per capita in the world of incest and most commonly brothers impregnating their sisters.
Alabama: known for being the most racist state against minorities mainly blacks but they have just as much hatred for the Jews too. If not for federal laws they would likely still have separate restrooms for blacks etc
Louisiana: per capita they take less baths/showers than any third world country. Dirtiest and nastiest people out there. On the bright side "per capita" they use less water per person as well. You would think they were trying to conserve water but then again maybe they are and it explains their uncleanliness
Mississippi: this is not really something you can calculate but if you've ever been there than you know. Just a big shot hole. The arm pit and or arse hole of the country. Not a highly coveted place to visit unless you just want to drop a big giant turd and then get hell outs of dodge.

Total number of dentists per 1,000 people (SEC States):
#22. Kentucky - 0.557
#29. Florida - 0.510
#30. Tennessee - 0.508
#37. Missouri - 0.469
#41. Texas - 0.462
#42. South Carolina - 0.458
#43. Louisiana - 0.451
#47. Georgia - 0.444
#48. Alabama - 0.432
#50. Arkansas - 0.403
#51. Mississippi - 0.397
Note...51 total since list included D.C.
Total Dentists Per Capita by State
Dentists Rating by State:
Tennessee #40 (ahead of Missouri, Louisiana, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and Arkansas).
"Definition: Number of practicing dentists per 100,000 population"
United Health Foundation Dentists Rankings By State 2017
Using your own source (Wallethub) State Dental Health Rankings:
#38 Tennessee (ahead of Texas, South Carolina, Florida, Louisiana, Alabama, Arkansas and Mississippi).
Wallethub State Dental Health Rankings - 2018
So...Tennessee's dental health is the worst thing about living in the state...and that metric is still better than most of the other SEC states.
