If I were hiring a coach today to lead my program for the next five to seven years, then who would be the most desirable...Gus Malzahn, Auburn: Malzahn might be the best offensive mind in college football....He's only 49 years old, which means he has a chance to lead your program for the next 20 years.

Time to remember and glorify incomparable stupidity...

I mean... this was not a bad or uncommon opinion in early 2015. Gus was coming off an NCG appearance in 2013 and a record-setting year for his offense in 2014. Saban appeared to have no idea how to stop him; we just outscored them in that 2014 Iron Bowl. I freely admit that I was concerned about the direction of the Auburn program at that point in time.

Not so much now, of course.

I'm in favor of anything that may help Gus get hired elsewhere.

Most Auburn fans would agree that this sports writer is a total moron.

Unless this is Skip Bayless writing (I didn't look), then this guy is just a temporary placeholder. Takes a lot to keep Skip off that platform for long.
